I am going to head out for a shot in the morning as was wondering what time is first shooting light now. the piece of ground I am heading for will not hold deer very long and usually 15 minutes after daybreak it is all over.

What breed deer are in the area and how long do you usually stay after sunup?

I have done far better waiting until 10:00 than at first light, catching a few late ones heading back for cover than at first light.

Whatever official sunrise is, be where you want to be a minimum of 35 minutes before. If you want to be on the safe side make between 45 - 60 minutes before. It's very much like evening times. Sunset can be (example) 16:30. However it'll stay bright enough to shoot until 17:00 - 17:15. When i'm heading out i'll be in position 45 minutes before sunrise to catch the first light.

Last thing you want is to bee walking to your ground for 08:47 and it well and truly bright out.

Have had similar success with this approach, but only on certain permissions. On the permissions that are mountainous it's first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening. On another permission, well away from any mountainous areas, i can find i get better opportunities between 9:30 - 11:30 am.

sika deer and the ground that they are coming off is sedge /bog/ grass land into forestry. you will get the odd one that could be a half an hour late , but the most of them fade into the forestery as you are just about able to see shadows and a white arse.
I was in position before half seven and intercepted two that won't be heading into the forest again. I was back home and the two deer hanging up before 10 am
