I might be lucky to get the fight from the world feed I have on satellite for free, the only quality I'm looking for is come big-fight time.

BoxNation would have gone from strength to strength if they had have acquired this, half the price of the PPV too for a months viewing would have attracted nearly a million new subscribers.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs Gamalier Rodriguez & Jesse Hart vs Mike Jimenez, hardly fights to whet the appetite.

But it depends on his opponent. Sometimes when one boxer is so superior to another the joy becomes a bit boring. Was like that in his last outing. Super skills etc, but against a bit of a punchbag.

Anyone know if any pubs across Ireland will be showing the bout? Only a casual fan of the sport so it's hard to justify shelling out 25 quid for one fight (albeit a huge, history-making one). I realise the lateness of the fight due to the time difference will mean it's unlikely though.

Might be a few people on here in the same situation. Lots of forums on here do 'boards beers' things so maybe a few people from the forum could call over to watch the fight together at someone's gaff, bring a few beers, throw in a couple of quid each for the ppv? Could be good craic. Providing someone is willing to host a bunch of drunk stranger boxing fans in their home from 5:00am.

Sky got the bigger event but IMO BoxNation have the better fight:

    Hi folks,

Just to let anyone who's interested know, we're working on getting this event for our customers and while we don't have any news on this yet we'll let everyone know once we have an update.

Keep an eye on www.upc.ie for more info. :)

    Thanks.

Surprised how many people are backing Pac. There's always someone who's supposed to have what it takes to beat him yet he's been constantly beating these people for the last 15 years. Mayweather has an excellent sense of distance like Marquez and he'll know how to just stay out of range and be able to get off lots of jabs using his larger frame and reach. He'll also force Manny to lunge somewhat just like Marquez has done so many times. Don't see him throwing too many combos in this fight, he'll be sure to not allow Manny also.

I hope people keep backing Pac, because Mayweather on points is free money! If they fought back in 2010 where Pac looked sensational he might have had a chance but don't see it happening this time.

Looked sensational against stationary targets for the most part. He fought JMM in 2011 and was the same Manny and he fought a close fight.

I agree, though, probably a better chance back in 2010. I think he has lost some speed, not much, but enough to make Floyd more a favorite today than back in 2010.

It is in my hole a better fight than the #1 v #2 p4p fighters in the world. Canelo is nowhere near their level and he's fighting a chinny guy who'll have not fought in a year and a half. GTFO!

Well, for me the Pac-Money fight will probably be a stinker. I think the Canelo-Kirkland fight will give us a better fighting spectacle.

Mayweather v Pac will be a wonderful clash of styles and Pacman will ask questions of Mayweather, there'll be points where he'll force him to fight. It should be exciting.

Kirkland is a brutish slugger, who could easily be sparked early by Canelo. The standard of boxing here will be light years behind May v Pac. It'll be a fun fight while it lasts because Kirkland doesn't take a step back but it's not a special fight. It's a fight you might prefer, but it's not a better fight.

Standard of boxing light years behind? Depends on what you define as boxing. It's a little more complex than most people think. Both Canelo and Kirkland can box. I happen to think that Canelo is a beautiful stylistic boxer/puncher; much more pleasing on the eye than Manny or Floyd as regards punching and technique when punching. Kirkland is a whirlwind of offense, and not sloppy offense either. He can put shots together beautifully. I think the term slugger on its own is a little harsh. He can slug in a pretty and effective manner. Boxer/puncher/slugger!

I am going to take a chance on Canelo and Kirkand delivering a lot of fun for however long it lasts as opposed to Manny and Floyd likely going through the motions and posturing and threatening. Manny pushing it and falling short and going over Floyd's shoulder, while Floyd ducks and dives and pot shots here and there for a clear win on shots landed.

For the record, I don't think Manny's style and size will force Mayweather to fight all that much. He's not big enough to impose himself from mid range. He won't bull rush and bully Mayweather either, as that is not his style, plus it would be of no use against Floyd. I could be wrong. I would love a great fight, but looking at the two of them I can't envisage it.

I would say that Manny has a decent chance of getting to Floyd. Cotto, margarito & ODLH were all bigger than Pac & he gave them a lesson in boxing. I know its not like for like but there is merit for the argument.

An interview with victor conte regarding testing arrangements (or lack thereof) for the fight, branches out into a few other interesting areas. Anybody familiar with doping will be depressingly familiar with a lot of what he says...

I didn't listen to it all but it seemed to be mainly concentrating on the lack of a random testing procedure. Interesting, but not really telling us something we don't already know.

Possibly. But let's look at the fights. Manny didn't press them until they realized that they had little to offer. He beat them up from mid range. Cotto did well for 4 rds and then got hurt and ran, forcing Manny to chase him. Manny didn't look all that terrific in stalking him and closing the show. Saying that, Cotto is neat and slick and can move and survive. Oscar was pretty bad that night. Really bad. Margarito is not really worth considering as regards how he compares to Floyd.

For Manny to have any chance he needs to press and harass Floyd and make Floyd work hard. But, that is when Manny could be exposed. Too predictable and eager and falling in and falling short. Also, getting tagged from mid range because of Floyd's speed and range, and size advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a very cagey and inactive Manny. Too much thinking about falling short and getting picked off.

Yeah, but he also says that there is absolutely no will on the part of the commissions etc to enact proper testing, saying that because of his past, any fighter who works with him should be tested in a targeted manner etc and maintains the majority of elite level fighters are juiced.

I define standard of boxing as the level that the boxersfighting are operating at. Both are operating at a higher level than Canelo and are on a different planet completely to Kirkland. Canelo does throw lovely combos by the way but he's not fast, has questionable stamina and a poor defence. He could have easily not gotten decisions against Trout and Lara. Don't get me wrong, he's a good fighter, but he won't be an all time great like Pac and Mayweather.

You could have two journeymen fighting that would have more punches traded than Mayweather v Pac, it doesn't make it a better fight. And my bet is that the Canelo fight will be more one sided than the Pac-May fight. The bookies seem to see it that way too.

The three of them are fighting at elite world level. That is fact. All three are WCs or at lest the top 5 in their division(s).

The same with ALL the legitimate no 1s across the 17 or so weight divisions. All are operating at elite world level.

You pick out a couple of areas where Canelo is weak in your view. I can do that with many elite world level fighters, including Manny and Floyd.

BTW, me saying that Canelo-Kirkland could be a better fight is NOT just to do with the amount of punches thrown, and I never said that.

Will you get real. If Canelo was on Mayweather's level he wouldn't have got schooled would he? He's a level above him and Pac has that proved over the years too.

I'm saying that May and Pac are better than Canelo and if Pac was Canelo's size, he'd murder him. And Mayweather already handily beat him. That's all I'm saying.

He won a fight against him. That doesn't change the fact that both are elite and operating at the same elite level. Would Floyd beat Trout or Lara? Styles plays a part as well. Many elite fighters have lost to other elites in all ways, whether it be close or clear losses. That doesn't always mean one fighter is then operating at a higher level. That's ridiculous. Manny got KTFO vs. JMM in their last fight. Is JMM somehow operating at a higher level to Manny?

It's not all your saying. You said that Manny and Floyd are operating at a higher level. I disagree.

As to Manny destroying Canelo IF he was the same weight. That's fantasy and speculation. You cannot know this.
