hi all, first happy new year to all:D.....im looking for a scope for me 22 that has an illuminated center dot,i find other illuminated reticles/crosshair type obscure the target too much,(rabbit head)i have a hawke eclipse 6-24x50 with the illuminated center dot on my hmr,i find that great, but putting one on me 22 i think is a bit overkill for up to 80 yrd night shooting.was thinking around max 12 mag for the 22 with side focus,so any suggestions?budget around €300,would consider second hand also, thanks all;)

One of the nicest illuminated reticles i've ever owned was the one on the Sightron.

Only the very centre of the crosshair lit up, and has multiple adjustments. Even on the highest it was not bright, and due to the size never obscured/drowned out the target. The problem with Sightron is they have gotten a great rep with more and more people using/switching to them so what was a reasonably priced scope is starting to move into higher end range in terms of price. Plus you see so little of them for sale second hand because they are quite simply that good.

I'm a big fan of the Sidewinder. It;s a cheap, and practical scope that does exactly what it says on the tin. The issue with them is due to price not a great deal of effort has gone into crafting the perfect illuminated crosshair and i even started my own thread some weeks back about that very topic. How it drowns out the target/sight picture during dusk shooting.

My point being regardless of make if, like me, the budget won't stretch to Sightron type scopes it's a matter of compromise. Take what suits most of your needs and work with/around it. I won't bother recommending any other brands because none come to mind that would suit in terms of what you want and price. Even going up to 600+ there are not a huge amount of choices with the "perfect" illuminated reticle.

I know my post is not an answer, but i honestly cannot think of anything that ticks all the boxes for ya.

That is exactly what i done. The .22 sat idle since i got the HMR so sold it on to finance a new shotgun for the ould fella.

Not sure if you are already thinking along these lines but if your budget is 300 and you're going to sell the .22 perhaps combine the monies and buy a really good scope with the reticle you want.
thanks again and a very happy new year to you and your family.
    Many happy returns kid.
