The lads must think they are playing a test the way they are batting here...:pac:

    Porterfield gone, 54-1

I can see the thinking here; bat conservatively and try and keep wickets in hand for the powerplay. We dont want the run rate to fall too much though; 3 rpo is going to make it hard to kick on.

109-4 after 31, kev is in

Jamaica wrap it up in 29 overs with the loss of just 4 wickets.

Last chance today for us to try and unhumiliate ourselves a little with our game against fellow 2 losses from 2 games Windward Islands. They didn't concede the bonus point in either of their losses though. Can't help feel that: A) resting Joyce B) no warm-up games (guess these are the warm ups for the WI games) and C) the injury to Stirling have all cost us dearly. Fingers crossed this time round we can put our best foot forward and at least spare ourselves the ignominy of a bottom of the table finish.

Also the last chance for NOB and KOB to try and get themselves bought at the IPL auction. Wonder if they will "go nuts" trying to do this and either fail horribly or show their very best.

nice to see young getting a game. not exactly the hardtop that would really best suit him but good for him to get the experience anyway also good for stirlo to get some game time in the middle before the windies games.

hes looking good so far too

porterfield just looking awful again today. he just cant get any timing going on these slow t&t surfaces.

Stirling out. Run rate very low again

D3PO's big mouth did for Stirling who really needed some time out there before the Internationals.

Porterfield's form has been absolutely shocking now for maybe a year or so. To be honest I think he just has to be dropped, captain or not. And of course he's out here again now already while I was typing this, another horrible lose shot just giving some easy catching practice. Now 25-2 off 8 ... horrible.

The sad thing is these performances have the commentators suggesting we missed our boat for Test cricket back about 2011. I'm not sure I quite agree it's gone, but this series will have decimated our arguments and now we'll have to do something special against the W.Indies and in the T20WC to put this debacle out of the administrators minds.

Everything goes in cycles? As long as the progress is generally forward, that's what matters..

Shocking run rate, 2.77 after 13 overs. Terrible stuff

No boundaries in last 10 overs?

Suppose they might as well use up the 50!

61 for 3 @ 3rpo. Im not sure if we are playing it safe or just getting bogged down but either way its not good.

I knew I should have said "how long before that sweep claims another victim" as soon as Wilson started playing it. There was a point there in the summer it was virtually "banned" apparently as they were losing far too many wickets to it, but I guess when they are struggling so horribly to buy any runs it's no big surprise some of them just can't resist trying it :-(

No matter how well or not we performed in the matches, it is great experience for the team. Aside from the World Cup, who would have thought that Ireland would "tour" the West Indies?

    Poynter out :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 739 ✭✭✭minitrue

And now Nialler finishes his attempt at putting some respectability on things with 44, joining the Poynter club getting stumped wandering down the wicket early and missing the ball. At least he wasn't trying to cut it :-( Commentators ripping them both a new one, and they are right :-(

    100/5 from 31.3

138/6 from 40. 26/1 from the powerplay, Kevin the one dragging on. Need a Soresen special like he had at the LCU T20 Finals day to just try and have a hope of not giving away another bonus point let alone giving our bowlers any sniff of a prayer to pull off the miracle. Wild optimism but we live in hope.

    Early wicket. Good stuff

    2nd wicket. Dare to dream

Indeed. Could do with getting rid of this Theophile character though.
