He just text me back there, next week maybe, ram was out on the 4th November, so 100 days tomorrow, how long is too long? A lad would get pissed off with this craic.

I got fed up waiting to be called back, Ram went out 1st October & guy who normally scans cows only going to have a go.
Won't know numbers just inlamb or not, some day this week

Sadly I must of been as bad as you!
We pay straight away, but are small, & you're left on the long finger & always chasing

Lad that does mine is flat out all the time but will still do them the day he said paid on the way out the gate.

I hope he's doin it cheap so. That's the whole reason for scanning. Before we started scanning here we'd have the dry ones in with the hoggets before the meal feeding started

I changed this year, lad last year said be there at 11am arrived at 6pm pitch dark and pissing rain. I had told him some of the ewes were on an out farm with no lights, wasn't impressed and not his first time either. Lad this year was here 3 times for different bunches, could set your watch by him and went out of my way to say it to him. A top class service, and tbh way I work unless a contractor gives me a timely service don't go back.

Remember years ago waiting with old man for hours on fellas, no mobile phones to chase them either used to crack me up....

Sounds familiar with sheep shearers. Took me a few years and 3 different shearing crews to get a crew that turned up when they said they would and do the job without moaning. A guy cost me a dead ewe last year from sheep being sheared a few weeks later then originally scheduled from guys not turning up, luckily now use very realiable shearers.

Scanned the ewe lambs this morning, 1.17/ewe including barrens, 11 barren out of 125, happy enough,
Gave him €500 for scanning 550 ewes altogether, happy enough with that too. scanned in four bunches

Trying third scanner now, Tuesday he reckons, no problem lol. What do you need says I, sheep & money was the answer. Don't we all!

Decided not to bother scanning the 20 ewes in separate bunch, would think by watching them walk that they are all in lamb, will be handling them early next week so will know for sure then.

The lad I have scanning always wants the non aerosol spray, just to make it more awkward for you ;)

Results as far as I can remember:

2 empties  One a hogget, one an older ewe single white tag.

    19 singles

    13 twins

Have any of you scanned yet? or when are you intending to?

Slight dilemma here, First ewe was tipped 1/8 & last on 12/10 (use a harness with Crayon).
There was only 3 tipped in August, 6 in October, rest in September.

Recommended 40-90 days, but possible to tell from 30,

When would be best to organise for scanning? Thinking 2nd week of November.

we scanned last week and were happy with the results with 1.75 and 85percent lambing in a 25 day period from service with the sponge used and no pms used. only two sets of triplets and older ewes withtwins and the hoggets with the singles.

How long is the ram away, scan generally doesn't show under 30 days.
    Good figures all the same
