it should be piped outside the boiler case using 22mm waste and the proper fitting that came with the waste from grant eng and then away as recommended

hope that condensate take off isnt coming into contact with any copper

it doesnt seem to be so thats one thing to be thankful for.

In a little bit of a leeway, I can kind of get why the plumber/heating engineer/installer done it like that because there is no form of any drain whatsover near the boiler. No rainwater drain, no sewerage drain , no soak-away, no nothing.

    - most probably thought "what cannot be seen, cannot be worried about" .. but i am always taking the back of things :D ... so i have seen it! - and what has been seen cannot be un-seen :)

At least this installer kept boiler raised on rust proof stainless steel box here.

    Ooh yes
Householder accused me of been a con man highlighting faults.
    Crack in oil tank
Flue fitted upsidedown (stainless steel flap blocking outlet)
    No PRV
    No drain
    Boiler soothed up.

All because boiler was fitted by a (gas man) who is one of Gods chosen children, on a higher echelon than you'res truly.

I fell over with laughter presenting bill for minimum work.

Call the chosen one, was my attitude.

    PS
I quoted boiler replacement 4 years ago.

    Ooo
    And the roof leaks too.

KF must be a light lad. Those lids would not have provided much protection to me 😬

:D no, just careful balancing on the edges :D
Left the phone at the hatch in case I did end up in one of them, but did drop one of the spanners in the far one.

Remind me NEVER to take out that insurance policy.

Perhaps all houses should be dismantled and stored in a warm shed every winter?

I assume they mean occupied holiday homes that have all the heat and power turned off. It's just badly written, I hope.

If you're going to basically abandon a house, unheated, you do need to shut it down properly.

    Ingenious!

Flush handle had to be moved to the left to clear shower screen to the right.

Is there a nozzle and electrodes in there somewhere. Maybe a new stem valve needed.

Its a mixer valve to ensure the hot is not too hot, maybe in a school or creche?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Conservatory

I’d have gone with a chrome trap and pipes myself but nothing particularly wrong there.

Could have turned the mixer on it’s side to make the pipe run look better but it’s fine.

Just lazy untidy plumbing. The pipework is very poorly supported and the mixing valve could be better positioned and as for push fittings, ugh. soldered fitting would leave a neater appearance.

if that gate valve leaks (which they do sometimes) over that zone valve that could get tasty - and what is all that gubbins under a plastic bath?
