Haven't signed off on the full spec yet, I have a choice to make:

    Trim or no trim:

    Tree - Check
    Wall - Pending...

    :p

It was a fence, I braked enough to avoid hitting the tree. :p

On a black car trim 100%

Either black trim, or no trim at all. :)

On a black car trim 100%

Agreed - on a lighter colour - not having the chrome surrounding the window works fine.

But on black - chrome surrounds finish it off nicely.

    Nice car either way.

Personally if it were mine - id also be looking to have a lighter coloured interior - but I don't like black interiors generally

I think i'll go chrome so!

I'd love to pick white(for the car), but I dont have the nuts to pull it off... I'm not a fan of bright interiors, black or nothing for me!

Good choice, as long as you paint it black afterwards. :P

Met a 2010 525d today, I'd say they're as rare as hens teeth post 2008.

Saw one in Navan today too, also 2010. Once in Cabinteely I saw a 2011 535d...

Personally, trim. A lot of folks like to shadowline the chrome trim but I like it on my e92 because it provides a nice contrast and I like contrast :D

Anyone familiar with the M1, between Ardee and Drogheda?

Heading towards Drogheda, there's a speed camera (lines on the road, camera mounted on a pole). Just wondering does it actually work!?

I went past it doing 124km/h, and I didn't notice a flash or anything like that. However, I was overtaking a Highway Maintenance Van at the time, who was initially in the right lane, but moved in the left lane in front of me and gradually began to slow. I'm wondering if the camera will have nailed me or not.

Highway van slowing down makes me think the camera works, and highway guy just knew it was there and slowed down in anticipation. However, I didn't see any flash and anytime I ever hear of these cameras, they never seem to actually be in working order?

    Anyone familiar with it? :)

Was in the back of a Skoda Superb on the way into town tonight. First time I've sat in the back. That yoke is absolutely massive. Felt like i was in a long wheel base 7 series. Crazy leg room, and awesome seats. Very impressed.

Hasn't been in operation in years. As far as I know there is no recording equipment in them. They cost a fortune to run

Indicated 124km is probably nearer 115km or so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,306 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

Funny that. The only car I ever had that had a significant deviation on the speedo was my old starlet.

The xantia, clio and the C5 tend to be bang on.

Lack of Traction Control + RWD + empty rail station carpark = fun :D

*Hopefully dont have gardai knocking on the door lol*

    It's great Craic :)

Get the feel there, move to roundabouts and then nice sweeping bends :)

I was very impressed with an i40 estate last night for the same reason. Now if I could lose the hangover

    Phew! Thank god for that.

I notice anytime I come across these they're always out of action, alright, but I wasn't sure about that one. Odd they'd bother having them in the first place.

I was gonna say shouldn't they take them down, but sure I suppose they're still looked at as a deterrent of sorts?

Ah no, it was 124km/h. I was going by my Sat-nav, rather than the speedometer (whenever I have the Sat-nav turned on, i tend to instinctively use it's own speedometer, rather than the cars one. Easier and quicker to read).

Not a great photo but the new LED's on the right and the normal yellow OEM's on the left:

Very happy :D I also installed a new clutch stop which makes changing gear more pleasant and will be installing the CDV during the week.

I think I spotted you in Cashel today. Car looked well and sounded great. Those new lights looked sweet in the flesh I have to say. Very smart looking.

I noticed this too a couple of months ago, first time in a superb and it is probably the roomiest car I have sat in

Jaysus ya can't go anywhere haha

Yep, I was over in Chez Hans getting a voucher for the mother. I was talking to the head chef in there about the e39 M5 that was parked outside which turned out to be his. He also owns an RS4 that was outside the last time I was in there, still has it but he said he can't afford to have both cars on the road at the one time.

First world problems or what?! :D

Speaking of shows, will anyone be at the classic show in Swords next weekend?

I'll be there in the Worris if anyone is thinking of going.
