Yes, EPS fell but the company is still very profitable.

Net working capital stocks usually have losses are very static earnings (which is why the market discounts them).

A longer trend is needed re T/O & COS for obvious reasons but looking since their AIM IPO the growth between the two is very close.

Annual increase in figures for 2010/11 T/O was up 19.81%, COS up 21.66%.

    For 2011/12 T/O was up 12.4%, COS up 12.8%.

A disturbing trend no doubt but many net-net type shares have far worse figures. In my opinion, if this was a 'normal' net-net, then the company is still undervalued (to be reviewed when the capex program is finished).

Edit: By 'normal' I mean not from a country on my danger list.

RSA Insurance is probably a good option now?

Seems like a big over reaction from the market alright, haven't done any research into them yet though

Tesla sold only 5500 cars last quarter. There is probably a lot of value shorting this over the next year. Closed 176 today. Target south of 120.

finished @121 That dropped a lot quicker than I expected but I've just sold the last of my holdings. Nice tidy profit made.

Very nice Gekko, timed it perfectly

Any views on Paddy Power after yesterdays drop? The bookie always wins and yesterdays drop seemed a bit extreme for what is most likely a once off.

Still richly priced but will international growth justify it?

That is gambling and has nothing to do with investing.

And even if you did make that trade there are probably countless others that went the other way.

The market can stay irrational much longer than you can stay solvent....

The value in stocks at the moment is on the downside not the upside. It was a perfectly valid trade based on the shocking results and huge run up in the share price. I had expected it to fall over a much longer period than it did but that's life.

I fail to see how you have concluded that that is what gg is saying in his post. It looks an awful lot like you're looking for a fight tbh.

It's pretty clear that he meant the value in stocks generally as opposed to your reading in "all stocks".

Anyway, that's the end of it. I don't want to have to start moderating this thread, which should really be fairly non-confrontational.

Well despite the 100% recovery in SP price (probably a little more upside)but the lousy divi (< 1.0%), it was high time to get out and cashed out of Abbey.

Money put to better use in National Grid and Royal Mail. The latter is probably a little early, but hopefully any more slide between now and year's end will be offset by a lift following FTSE 100.

Anyways both stocks I intend holding for longer term.

royal mail and the other logistics companies is an interesting area. I have a feeling the amazon is going to take one of them out over the next few years but im just not sure which one they will purchase.

Well they or Deutsche Post will have significant deep pockets to do so. The 'media analysts' seem to think DP will ?

I'll take a back seat and wait. ;)

    Some fund type stocks:

My 2013 mentorship clients looked at Avanti Capital (AVA.L) when it was trading at 55p. Yesterday AVA announced a 105p dividend and is currently trading at 150p. The initial share price rise was due to an IPO of one of AVA's underlying investments.

More recently I found AUMP. NAV 212p, share price then around 55p (Now 87p) but loan renewals were a problem. Loans have since been extended (for the short term) but they are not out of the woods yet. From an income point of view they look cheap too if only they could increase occupancy a little.

Another undervalued company is Saint Peter Port Capital (SPPC.L) which is trading at a 50% discount to NAV. Several underlying investments doing well. Great balance sheet. Like AVA SPPC could see the flotation of one or more of its investments. The company states that several holdings are worth more than the value that they are being carried for.
