That's bollox. They get the allowance for the drink. I use mine in the local for Bud. They couldn't give a rats what you order. Report them to Guiness.

Bit hard to do that when the email address they gave doesn't exist! :p

Got my first free pint in Wexford at weekend, tried many times previously and app would just not check in...

Try mailing info@yourguinnessplus.com, used that before and is valid but don't expect any help!

I've never been able top get a free pint with this app.It is a complete waste of time. When I check in it can’t find the venue every time.

Can never get this to work in pubs I go into!

Has anyone a code so I can check in and apply for competitions?

Latest one is trip + round of golf in Fota Island.

You need the code for the actual pub you check into. Surely wherever has the 5 digit code that they give out to punters ?

On the "check-in" page of the app, have you actually seen the pub you were in at the time ?

Since starting this thread... ive got my couple of pints but it seems like a lot of pubs dont do this offer at all now anyway.

And to boot, I dont know if this is happening to anyone else but the app seems to be notifying me of crap offers and events every second day or so.

Its had its day... Deleted app.

I never have to use the pub code at check in,as far as I know the GPS in your phone registers whether you are in that particular pub or not.

    Open to contradiction.

On investigating poor battery performance on my brand new nexus 5 I found the biggest demand on the battery was this app at 45%. Since deleted, naturally...

Have never managed a pint through this app with various dramas from either the software or bar staff. Feel like buying Beamush to spite :o

You need to enter the 5 digit code to activate the voucher

Gotcha, I've only used it for free beer, which defo needs the code.

Just un-installed this after 3 months, between issues with checking in and slow loading and also many bars listed not actually giving the free pints it is a complete waste of time.

I've to disagree with the majority here. The app is class I've had circa 8-10 free pints.

Deleted app. Kept coming on randomly on my phone and making noises.

Looks like it's a shoddy product from Guinness.

Anybody have a list of pubs of where you actually redeem the pints?

Download the app and you will see all participating venues all marked on a map.

Me too. I've got 5 free pints over the last few months.
No problems redeeming in the pub.

I get the occasional popup about competitions but nothing too intrusive.

Agreed. However in practice staff frequently either make you feel like they're doing you a favour or alternatively deny being involved in the promotion

    The app is terrible.

I was in my local on Sunday and the barman told me about it and gave me the code.
I checked it was on the participating venues list, checked in and tried to redeem my free pint, but it kept telling me that I wasn't within 30 metres of a participating venue.
This was despite several others in the bar having used.
There was roughly a 50/50 split between those for whom it worked and not.

    Rubbish.

Android, but the GPS worked fine when I was checking in. More likely the app is terrible.

Never had any issue with the iphone in local.

Not in my experience. If they are decent staff and the pub is a participating venue, I dont see the problem. They are being well reimbursed by the supplier.

In contrast to your experiences, I dont drink Guinness, never have. But for every free pint offer that I have caught, I've been given a Bud.

Its probably a combination of laziness and apathy. I can only think of one pub in Dublin city centre where staff were pleasant about it. Obviously there's loads , but the embarrassment factor meant i simply gave up
