That is completely ridiculous. Just yank the kicking from him if he misses one kick? Just no. Adds a crazy amount of pressure to every single kick he has to take.

It's at least better than taking the kicking duties away after a good performance and giving them to someone who hasn't kicked in a while.

In a Heineken cup match the margins for additional pressure couldn't/shouldn't be much higher anyway.

I mean it could probably be a bit more flexible than one kick, depending on the difficulty, but they'd want to find a balance between allowing him to build some consistency, and minimising the points lost due to missed kicks.

Then again, if it's as simple as Ruan is the first choice kicker, then maybe that's that. But I don't see why they can't have more fluid transitions between kickers within a match depending on form on the day.

Ruan has been Ulsters first choice goal kicker, so why would that change now?

Well he hasnt kicked for SA in the RC and hasnt played for Ulster since May, sure he has the next 2 1/2 years to get the kicking duties back of Paddy...hopefully...
