Heard today that a sizeable number of players are not making themselves available next year worrying if true… Declan Bonner has a tough enough task without this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,460 ✭✭✭Redsoxfan

Interesting. There are already a few around who would seem good enough to play a part but have stepped away.

    Were any names mentioned?

Haven't heard anything but wouldn't be surprised if Daire O Baoill, Caolan Ward and Jason Mc Gee is among them. Eoghan Mc Gettigan probably aswell if he wasn't injured. Hard to see Neil Mc Gee and Paddy Mc Grath back at it also.

Am sure the Ram will retire rather than 'not commit'.

Paddy was available last year but didn't get game time. Doesn't seem like much point in sitting out so he should retire too.

If they do, good luck to them. More to follow if it's confirmed.

Anyway, good luck too to Luke Keaney.

I heard that McGee and Langan are amongst those who have stepped away. Would be a disaster to lose Langan.

Anyone have any reliable news on EBG and Hughie? I don't suppose either played at the weekend?

Ban is back, Hughie will be out until the new year.

All hotting up in the club championships - feast of football this weekend.

Lots of games but as far as the Senior Championship goes only one true match by the looks of it.

Naomh Conaill v Kilcar live on TG4 next Sunday.

Streamed the game earlier, Naomh Conaill far too good for Gaoth Dobhair.

    So Rochford is coming back

    Paul McGonigle is not

    Awful game this.

Poor decision at the end there in the Kilcar game. He looked to have ran into the square

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭ArnoldJRimmer

Very hard to tell from the TV angle as to whether he was in the square or not when the ball was kicked. But both umpires and ref seemed pretty sure

Ah when they showed it from the further out angle he looked to have moved from outside the square. His team mate to the right of him alright was in the square.

There was so much movement that he could well have been in the square in the few seconds after it panned over to the free taker.

Dirty act by the Kilcar selector after the whistle

Kilcar keeper looked to be acting the pup as well.

I don`t believe Kilcar have much to be aggrieved about. The better team won.

I didn't see the after's. I had turned off the tv at that stage. I'm not a Donegal man. The standard was well below what i'd expect for a championship match at Senior level.

I thought there were some quite decent sections of play and a few good scores. Games between these two have to be viewed taking into consideration there is no love between in recent years, and geography plays a part. It will rarely be pretty or free flowing

You lasted a lot longer than I did.

Would fully agree it was a poor standard of football. Just seem an incredibly slow game. No urgency of getting the ball from defence to attack at all.

It was an improvement on the Galway senior quarter a few weeks ago. One team may as well have been playing basketball. Look you can't blame the players they are carrying out what they are being asked to do. The creative side of the game seems to be lacking in the majority of games. Has anybody seen the square ball incident again?

Embarrassing to see a county semi final yesterday with only two umpires. This shouldn't happen in a county that is meant to be serious about promoting the game.

Not just related to the disallowed goal, but I can't for the life of me understand why teams don't play those kinds of frees short (the late frees where only a goal will do) and then lob the ball in. Any semblance of a square ball direct from a free is always going to be blown for a free out. But if it's played short and then lobbed into the square, all the players have to do is ensure they're outside the square when the ball is kicked and then it's fair game.

Well done to St. Eunan's and Dungloe (and Naomh Mhuire) on their victories in the hurling. First title in 49 years for Eunans and Dungloe have won the Junior title in only their second year playing adult.

RIP Martin Griffin, a true Donegal legend.

St Eunans built well to that.

Naomh Conaill were shocking. Didn't see that coming.

Shocking in many ways, but not sorry to see them lose tbh! Comhghairdeas to Eunans, a historic double for the club.
