An aircraft was still on the runway I believe.

Waiting to get called in for drive training. Should be some time next week. The actual job isn't starting till April. Really looking forward to it.

Cool, you'll enjoy man, you really will. My funniest G/A was a dog on the runway, OPS and the rescue vehicles were all over the place tryna catch it

    What timeS:D

They'll be doing 6 take offs and landings per candidate onboard. Could be 6 or more trainees to get through.

Going in for low pass visual inspection.

All gears confirmed down following visual inspection.

Yeah it did about 10 minutes ago. Emergency crews were requested as it's an "emergency situation". Hope it's more of a precautionary thing and not serious.

Think the BAW1 might have been an fr24 error - it disappeared on the playback just now.

Doesn't look good. Circled north of Cardiff and is going towards Shannon. 261 Kt speed, is that not a bit low?

It appears he has landed at Shannon, altitude still reading as 1,300 but he has gone off the map at Shannon.

shannon i guess is a more isolated location, with longer runway?

Dub is capable taking 747's and closer for decent, if there was a fire they'd probably want to land as near/quickly as possible no?

Cardiff would have been the closest. Can it take 747s?

Shannon was probably only marginally further. Anyway, what if it landed at Dublin and ended up blocking the runway for a prolonged period just as the first morning wave of departures kicks off, delays for all!

But he had circled just north of Cardiff city. He had Cardiff airport as well as Bristol airport within minutes and even Exeter airport at a push.

Boeing Dreamlifter above Castlebar now - If you're interested

Looking at the weather it would seem that Shannon was best due mist and fog in pretty much all the airports east of DUB. There's no way of knowing how bad the situation was onboard or what systems the aircraft had or didn't have.

Second guessing the pilots won't help either as we don't know what information they were looking at or what his thought process was. Safe and successful outcome none the less.
