Attacked in street with knives.

Help:
A couple of days ago I just came out of the book store and these two fellows came up to me, starting pushing me and saying "do you want to fight".

I ignored it and walked on. ( I said nothing and just walked on). They then starting walking after me, I started to run towards the main street and they got out a knife and ran like rabbits towards me, I wanted to call 999 on my phone but it would have taken forever for the Guards to come as they do not patrol the city.

They caught up to me and stopped me pointing their knife at me saying I will beat the "sh**t* out of you*,etc. I then ran back the way towards the shopping line yelling help and trying to get my phone out to call the Guards, the were running after me, both of them with big sharp knives saying "I WILL KILL YOU, RUN RUN" I then made a quick escape into one of the shops. My heart was beating out my chest and felt like I was in pain 'like a blanket of dark death', there were no security/guards or anything.

I then saw them run off into another direction (towards the traffic). It was raining heavily and misty.

I waited in the shop for about 30 minutes and then ran back to my car.

Once I got back into my car, I locked the doors and drove very fast back to my home where I locked the door, put on all the lights and got my Army knife out. I even then started shining my light outside the windows (turning it off and on) ,( it was dark then) I felt like my body was making noises on the inside, it was extremely disturbing. I was afraid to call the Guards as they are limited and don't have much power towards the scum.

I still can't believe it happened, it was like a dream.

The main thing was I did not even look at them or anything, they just picked me out at random. I did not say a word, look at them,etc. nothing. I did nothing to provoke them, in fact I was way to nice.

Any ideas on how to protect myself if this ever happens again?, please I need your advice and support.

I really don't think you have offended discus. It is more likely that, Discus thinks, your absolutely bonkers and I'm going to have to agree.

And this is in my opinion important to understand bravestar.
After all, even if bravestar would appear 100% efficient, as part of boards.ie member, and he believes the scum were in the right . We must try to view and understand him as a person.

When I first read bravestar's post on boards.ie, the first 2, 3 seconds what I saw was not a monster/scum, what I saw was a deeply lonely man.

I mean - I'm speculating now, I have not thought about it - but I think it is important to understand that we are not sitting here with a demonic monster,with a scum devil. We're sitting here with a fellow human being,who, despite what he said and will do in the future will do us all to sorrow,
He suffers in my opinion himself, and has also suffered for a long time.
It is not possible for him to imagine us as we think about something.
But we can try, we empathise with him, in his way of thinking.

Ok, here I will give you an example.

Think of yourself in the following:
- Its winter, cold outside,raining or snowing outside (really nice).
- Your inside in your cozy bed beside the heater, your all cozy and you feel like your in heaven.

It was the opposite of that.

So think of a warm blanket over you. then think of a dark evil blanket over you.

Here's an idea, try the self defence forums.

sounds odd that they just randomly went for you. were they trying to mug you? either way fighting back against someone with a blade is not the best option and run should always be the first. if you feel vulnerable after this experience maybe go to some self defence or martial arts classes to get your self confidence back up.

Seriously, what are you on about? An Garda Siochana bring these people before the courts everyday. The judge decides what happens then. You want answers? Go ask a judge.

At the time I had no weapons on me, I also had no body protection so I was quite vulnerable.

You must always think ahead of what will happen in the future, and plan it. Taking the risk to fight back with no weapon,protection,etc was extremely high so I choose not to.
