Ah right.. Yeah, fair enough.. Although "medical condition" Would make me think he has an allergy to it or something...

I'm not sure he has a medical problem. More just a prat. The guy has been "endured" by Australian Rugby because he has the ability to be world class. But he's pretty much heading down the Gavin Henson pathway at this rate.

Genia is meant to have a serious attitude problem as well, it was one of the reasons for him being dropped. He refuses to listen to criticism and will not take on board anything the coaches say to him. The fact Nic White got the full 80 mins against Argentina was meant to be a message to Genia that he is not Australia's only option.

On O'Connor his attitude on the field has shown improvement but obviously off-field is where the ARU and the Force need to see progress. His big mistake this time was probably thinking he could get a flight after post-match celebrations.

It really doesn't. The Australian media don't hold back when their national players get themselves involved in these sort of incidents. That is simply not the case here. I went to school in one of the big 6 rugby schools so I'm on personal terms with a lot of current players playing in Leinster, Connacht and Ulster and to be perfectly frank you don't even hear 10% of what goes on. Theres a serious amount of covering up. Incidents in nightclubs and claims being brought only for the CCTV tape to go missing, that sort of carry on. Those in charge of the provinces do their uptmost to keep these things out of the papers and its extremely rare for these things to make it to court (obviously when they do the papers will report it like Harrison-Wrigt, Barnes, Howlett, Ferris) but 90% of the time an agreement will be reached or some other underhanded tactics to ensure claims aren't made.

But sure, only Australian rugby players behave like this :rolleyes:

He would look like a try-hard. But he's all about image, so I doubt he does or will.

He puts bums on seats, which the Force could do with, and as Kiwi_knock pointed out, Aussie don't have a lot of wingers, so he'll probably still get a contract.

I reckon they should let him go, and concentrate on getting Matt Giteau back into Australian rugby.

Quite probably true. Heard (from an ex-Garda) about a provincial player stopped in an extremely drunken state driving home, instead of being arrested he was given an escort home. Given similar incidents in the past, you'd think the Union/branches/authorities would have learnt their lesson. :mad:

If it's truly happening on a widespread scale, it's not doing anyone any favours, IMO.

Being taken home when you're a drunk, lost kid/teen and in a rough neighbourhood is one thing. Being taken home when you're drunk and behind the wheel is pretty poxy.

I think we could probably all rattle off a number of incidents that tended to be swept under the carpet or were only alluded to in the media without it ever coming out. Ireland tends to be very insular and a closed shop when it comes to these things with its sports stars and it goes well beyond rugby.

I reckon if JOC was Irish, he'd have a little less coverage but some of the stunts have been so public it would be impossible to keep under wraps regardless of where he lived.

To be honest his defence has been a bit earls-esque in recent times.. He has a nasty habit of coming in off his wing or off the line and preventing the offload when he needs the discipline to stay out and trust the man inside, particularly when under pressure near the line.. 3 or 4 tries he's cough up over the rugby championship.. A serious attacking talent but not a good defender and not an out half, ala keith earls.. I would drop him regardless
