    Not guaranteeing the banks, or even leaving the Euro if we had to, wouldn't have gotten us kicked out of the EU so our access to the single market wouldn't have changed.

    As a member of the EU that has adopted the Euro, there is no legal mechanism under EU law for us to "leave the Euro" other than leaving the EU and doing so then when we no longer have access to the single market.
    So as a result of German folk-memories of 1920s hyper inflation we were forced to follow economic policies that have crucified Ireland.

    No. We have to follow these policies because no one will bankroll our over-spending. We could leave the EU tomorrow and still be faced with similiar - if not worse - policies.
