does anyone find it ignorant when you ask a boardsie a question in a thread and they dont even acknowledge you let alone answer the question?

i think its very ignorant especially when its a mod.maybe its just me.

Sometimes people just don't bother to check posts that have quoted there's. I know I couldn't be arsed half the time, with the amount of inane ramblings I find myself throwing up here from time to time.

Sometimes I post on a thread and when I see it got a hundreds of replies since..I just unfollow. Unless it's something I really care about I can't be arsed to read through hundreds of replies and see if anyone asked a question.

    Ask better questions

A lot of people get lost in popular threads, for example if there is 100+ posts between when you originally posted you might not bother reading through them all or quickly scanning them missing a reply or question.

There is the option in your profile to view posts that quote you which is quite handy (click your user profile and choose statistics tab)

Edit if you are REALLY lazy here is a link.

This is where you need the latest technology in forum development to help you get through those busy threads..

Mark them all as "Read"... sorted :pac:

I respond a lot of queries on the Greater London Thread in the Travel forum for people looking for info on the place and getting around as I know London quite well.

I wouldn't describe those who don't get back to me as ignorant, but it would be nice to know how they got on.

A bit of feedback is always a good thing even if its negative.

If you are using the default skin, there's an option to search posts that quote you, from your profile page.

damn sorry, missed that line. focused solely on the link you copied. this'll be an example of a rambling I'd rather just leave to itself.

Not answering in a thread could be for a few reasons. Wouldn't bother me too much.
This I think is much worse.

Lad starts a thread looking for advice about a machine. Nobody replys to thread.
I saw it a few days after and sent him a pm with the info. Didn't feel like doing it on thread (not a heavy poster). Basic info. Wasn't expecting a box of Milk-Tray or anything ! Not as much as a "cheers for that" !! Ya Ignorant fook.

    Happend a few times too.

Those people don't exist, we all just sit here and wait and pretend to have a life by not posting for a few hours.

    Don't be kidding yourself

    Within a split second? Jebus!

How does one acquire the Mod stone status?

Do I have to go on a course and roam the earth for several years to retrieve the mod stone?

Will I get to sit on the platter with the other greats?

Will I get this lovely gift?

I don't subscribe to threads so I often miss stuff like that.

You used to be able to search for your own user name and it would show you posts that quoted yours which was handy for finding replies you'd missed but it doesn't seem to be possible now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,930 ✭✭✭Jimoslimos

A lack of reply means that you've done the one thing generally believed to be impossible on the internet, won the argument*

*Might probably also be that they've grown bored of your inane ramblings and aren't prepared to indulge you any longer.

Have you considered taking the Amp Test, it's a screening process for mods.

You know - I was gonna ignore this but since the OP decided to air it like dirty piss-stained laundry.. let me fill people in:

The OP replied to a Nexus 4 thread on Bargain Alerts with a question directed at something I said.

Moderating and all the fun and gifts that come with it (occasionally, small kittens are just flung my way) don't pay the bills - I'd work to do and was offline til lunchtime.

Someone answered his query 30 minutes later on thread, yet he PM'd me a snarky reply after that calling me "ignorant" for not answering his question.

Told me he should have PM'ed me as I would have sooner seen it (as I helped someone else order the Nexus via PM this morning... and then immediately told him never to PM me again as his childish behaviour f*cked me right off.

Let me phrase this as eloquently as I can - I'm not a f*cking robot, nor am I your mother and or / Google.

If you need direct help quickly, I'll PM you my premium rate number which you can ring 24 hours a day 7 days a week.. but you'll need to wait a minimum of 30 minutes on hold on the assumption your query will probably be answered elsewhere during that time.

    Basq... OUT!
