Was just thinking there ive gotten threw loads of different tv series and films so many with different kinds of endings ups and downs but what does everyone think was the sad ones that stood out the most for them??

It came into my head after seeing the last episode of Father Ted again last night on telly.

Always get shivers watching the ending knowing how things turned out in real life in the end...... :(

Lost !! Not a sad ending, more a poor effort to tie up all the loose ends !

    Sopranos.

    Spartacus, already mentioned.

The last 10 mins or so of Schindlers List. Jesus I cry buckets every time.

For those who haven't seen it, it's the actors from the film, and the actual survivors they portrayed (all very elderly now) both going to Oskar Schindler's grave together and placing a stone on top of it, which I believe is a Jewish custom. It's a very touching scene.

And don't even get me STARTED on Marley and Me!!!

Battlestar Galactica. It actually had a great ending but I loved the series so much that I was just sad to see it end.

Million Dollar Baby ending was very upsetting if not a little bit comforting??

I thought Lost was a great ending too. A sort of beautifully sad feeling.

I loved the ending to Lost too. Thought it was a perfect way to end it though loads of my mates hated the way it finished

It was the dog lying down beside Jack at the end that really finished me off :pac:.

I have this thing about dogs ive cried watching The Simpsons and Futurama cause of it!!!

I cry a river every time I watch the ending of the Shawshank Redemption.
It's such a fantastic and harrowing film, you are rooting for them the whole way through and then Red makes it through the border to see his oul pal Andy. Pure class !

And don't get me started on the film 'Life is Beautiful'.

Actually the sadest ending (now that I have had more time to think) is Fry's dog in Futurama waiting for him and then dying. Its just the most heartwrenching thing ever. I actually wont watch the episode of Futurama if it ever comes on.

The mood I'm in lately, I'd cry at the end of The Simpsons or Xpose.

Terminator 2. When he raises his thumb as he enters the steel.

    DON'T LEAVE ME ARNIE!

I'm exactly the same, and I know it's been mentioned on the thread already.

I deliberately will never watch that Richard Gere film 'Hachi' for the same reason. Something about dogs faithfully waiting for someone who never comes.... *runs away to get a tissue...*

That is actually very sad also, since Fry thought he must have lived a full and happy life, then it shows the poor thing waiting for Fry all its life.

The actually made a different version of this in Benders big score where the dog is frozen when bender tries to kill fry.

Dancer in the Dark. I'm still sobbing gently now 7 years later. :( Poor Bjork.

    The Green Mile.

    Band of Brothers.

Can't watch the end of either of those without becoming a great big red eyed snotty mess.

Forrest Gump - when he's talking to Jenny at her grave telling her he had her fathers house torn down and how smart the kid is :(

I also can't watch that episode of Futurama with Fry's dog. Breaks my heart.

Other episodes (but not ends of series) that make me cry are the episode of Cold Feet when Rachel dies and in ER when Mark Greene dies. I just watched all the seasons of ER again and I was sobbing watching that one. :(

Life is Beautiful is fairly sad I suppose, Requiem For a Dream I also found pretty bleak. Mean Creek (great film) has quite a sad ending as well, and is a film that would be overlooked a lot.

When Laura roslin dies at the end of battlestar galactica, bloody sad stuff

The ending of Gallipoli always did it for me. Great movie, terribly sad ending.

But on the mostly non-serious end of things, a couple of years ago I had a few weeks off and nothing to do so I watched all 90-odd episodes of Chuck. Which was a very silly show. Sort of a 21st century Get Smart. I liked it. But the ending was really sad. I probably wouldn't have felt it was so sad if I'd watched it over 5 years instead of two weeks, though.

The end of Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan when Spock dies always brings tears to my eyes.

On the theme of dogs Marley & Me is a movie that had me sobbing buckets. It didn't look like a movie I'd ever watch but it just came on the tv in my folks house so I ended up watching it. I was expecting a rom com from the look of it, sweet jesus how wrong I was :(

A movie I'd highly recommend if you love a good sob is Grave of the Fireflies by Studio Ghibli. Don't let the animation throw you off, a movie designed for kids it is not.
