Thinking about a new lamp, are Lightforce really all that? .
What's your opinion on HID lamps, are they worth it?, light? , battery ?, opinions welcome.

I have one the 170 HID with the deben tracer 14ah lithium ion, bought from Simon sportsden last year for €500 as a package.Simon threw in the Lightforce Satchel(very handy) & honestly it is the last word in turning night to day.Must be seen to be appreciated.I have taken ranges with the binos during daylight hours & tested the lamp to Lightforces marketing. It far exceeds them, absolutely outstanding. If you have the coin buy it & never look back.

Met Lotharmike shortly after he got, one afternoon. He let me try it out for feel, weight, performance. Even though it was during the day the light was clearly visible against the side wall of a building some 100 yards away. Just to repeat that was during the day so i can only imagine what it was like during the night.

The battery pack he had was excellent. Light weight, powerful, and the bag made carrying the whole kit exceptionally easy. Was trying for a while to get one of my own, but other issues came up and it took a back seat so i continue to use the standard lamp and battery pack, but when funds allow it'll be a first on my wish list.

How do you lads find the lightforce hid for lamping , is it too bright,
I have been looking at the 170 hid but it doesn't seem to come with a dimmer,
I have found the old halogen 170 without a dimmer to be very bright and often can spook the fox.
Any good places to buy them online, and are they really worth the extra coin over the standard one? Thanks john

Never used it with a dimmer, not %100 on this I don't think you can use a dimmer with the HID but could be wrong & it is a incredible amount of light .Just put a filter on lamp if you prefer,as for worth it every cent excellent piece of kit.

Have been using a HID Liteforce 240 since last winter and it is a seriously impressive bit of kit. It takes a second or two to come on full brightness but when it does it's a massively bright shaft of light that allows positive identification way out beyond the range you will be shooting at. We never had an issue with foxes being spooked more than they would with a normal lamp, though saying that there are not to many lads lamping down my way so the foxes are usually unaware that the lamp means trouble.

The fella I shine the lamp for bought if from Mike Duggan.
