4 Councils, 4 mayors, one with a big gaff, 140 Councillors - soon to be 180!

All for a City/County of about 1.27 million. Sure we could nearly have a Councillor each.

Out of interest, when did you last contact your councillor about local issues?

I love the way he gets handed his hat back. And then recovers from being flat on his back to put it on.

    Hysterical.

A guy went into the Supervalu on Talbot st at about 1.40pm today with a golf club a attacked the staff, security guy and customers, blood all over the street, about 100 people stand around watchin what happened and loads of cops turned up but I had to head back to work.

Heard nothing on the news or on here about it. pretty crazy!

I don't see a golf club.. But I do see a scumbag getting clattered and knocked onto his arse ~ good enough.. There are not enough days in the week to give those scum a thump.

    Bravo Mr.Security/Bouncer :)

The "jokes" and puns are not even remotely funny for something so serious

Yet, for some other horrible events the mods come down with force and ban all attempts at humour. No consistency at all

Put down the golf club and sit down Johnny, we want to talk to you about your destructive outbursts.

It was Talbot street, so it would have been Johno not Johnny.

There's always a crowd of scumbags that harass the staff and security of the local shop near my house. Same little scumbags, same older scumbags. That security guard deserves a medal for fighting back. Scumbag deserved it.

Golf clubs used to be very posh. I blame the recession.. on the other hand, a scummer getting a good clattering?. Good stuff. If he claims, he should be given another, just to get the message out there.

"Talbot St covered in blood" and "shoppers cowering at the back of store"....exagerating isn't what it used to be... a security guard clobbered two scangers, must be a slow news day.

Thanks Femme for the link and all, but the point I'm trying to convey is that the council come up short in many areas, including any attempts at proper and meaningful reform. and the comments of councillors such as which was posted a while back shows up them up to be useless in this regard. All well and good making public statements, but it's another thing altogether to actually do something about it.

Ever since the massively, hugely intelligent decision to base the methadone clinics RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE CITY, having a shop in the city center means you get to do battle with junkies on a daily basis. I know, family members have two. Whoever came up with that brilliant decision deserves a pat on the back, preferably with a nine iron.

It did make sense from a logistics point of view

Sadly alot of junkies live in or around town. Which am sure effected the choice to place it there.

In any case, I am not arguing with you, I really hate junkies.

I witnessed the whole thing. I work on talbot street and was in Eurospar having my lunch sitting in insomnia directly across the road from the incident. The security guard was in the wrong. The two guys seemed to start the fight but someone came between them and the security guard was safe in the shop while the two guys were outside talking to what looked like a manager of Supervalu. He came back out when the situation had been calmed down with a golf club and whacked the man onto the ground. These had a t-shirt on initially but the security got it off him in the first fight. The security guard was wrong for going and getting a golf club he could have killed the man.

Sorry, I'm struggling to find the bit you don't approve of. I presume you mean a golf club was a poor choice of weapon, lacking weight, or am I taking you up wrong?.
