Just cracked open the OST to listen to at work. That is some glorious music. Who's the composer? I wanna track them down in a creepy stalker manner to congratulate them...

Same guys who did the Snes/Megadrive soundtracks, Marshall Parker and Sam Powell. Those were also also awesome by the way. If you like this, I recommend the Frozen Synapse and Deus Ex (original) soundtracks but you've probably already got em :)

A little annoyed now I didn't order the deluxe edition. I knew the OST would be good but now I really want it. It doesn't seem to be available for purchase on its own anywhere yet. Hopefully they'll make it available.

All I needed was for someone to say Fallout-ish. Bought.

Bah, editor keeps crashing on me when I try to create a new project. Can't figure out why.

Gonna spend a few hours on the editor tonight, see if i can make a poorly designed and cheesily written level of some sort.

    Also, the game is excellent.

Slightly OT, but I enjoyed the some of the books from the original Shadowrun series.

Can't stop playing this game. it is awesome!

There are project groups looking to recreate both the SNES and the MegaDrive versions of the game apparently. Also; There is also another site for a group looking for volunteers for an outline of lots and lots of campaigns. When I find the URL again I'll post it; I think it's the guys behind the Berlin DLC

Is anyone else on Windows 8 unable to create their own projects in the editor? Damn thing just creates some folders and crashes, or if the folders are created it fails to actually create the project and does nothing. Waiting a response from the support folks, but it'd be nice to know if I'm alone in this...

    I think I'm pooped :(

Can't find a medpack vendor in elf estate and the heal spell is kinda poor. I get far I'm tunnels but once I get a large pack of insects I'm done.

    Spoilers dude; spoilers!

Getting a little frustrated with the amount of misses I'm getting in combat even when applying hit buffs to my team and debuffs to targets.

But otherwise really enjoying the game.

Found that other site! It is ShadowrunIdentity.org and the landing page has an appeal for players to volunteer for a variety of positions to help make campaigns for the game.

So based on the generally high-praise Shadowrun has been receiving, I picked this up and whilst only an hour or so in, I'm loving it. A slick, old-school RPG very much in the Fallout mould & a real testament to the worthiness of Kickstarter as a concept.

If I have one grumble, it'd be the same one already mentioned here: the bloody autosave function. It's especially annoying in a genre that demands you spend time tending to your character's stats, the fact you can't then save your status is a borderline dealbreaker.

It's only a matter of time before a mod comes out for the save game malarky. I came to terms with the save system pretty fast however. The game is after all just a series of 'levels'. It does suck if you get geeked right at the end of a 30 minute long fight though. If this had been open world then I think I'd have it down as one of my all time favourites - but then again it was as much as I could have hoped for (and then some) considering it was Kickstarted and relatively small budget. Providing an editor was the best thing they could have done with the resources they had.

Finished the story of this last night, very enjoyable. Last mission was tough, took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing with it too, so I may have made it take longer than was strictly necessary :)

And now I await some great Workshop content. I may even take a look at the editor myself, I've got an idea or two for a run ;) Reminds me of my Quake World map making days 15 years ago...

Just had my first go of this. Very good, wish it was open world though.

This looks kinda cool. Is there any destructible terrain? It just adds to the tactical side of computer tabletop games.

^ Haven't come across any, I really doubt it's in the game.

Any tips for shadowrunning? I'm an elf/street samurai using rifle & some rigging too. Finding later fights getting difficult, about 3/5 into the game. This is my first turn-based RPG. Any fight-based general tips an strategies? How good does your rigger have to be - mine seems to have terrible range and misses a lot.

I played a rigger/decker first time through. He tore things up like they were toilet paper once he got his Level S drones with 4AP each. I generally took 3 guys on runs: myself who could handle all the decking stuff, I took the 'Support Mage' dwarf (forget his name) from the Nephalim Network as he had loads of buffs and heals and either Coyote or some other badass Street Samurai type. Use +chance to hit buffs and -AP attacks. Riggers have very few attacks that can disable opponents (unless you go into shotguns or take lots of concussion grenades etc) so make sure you bring a shaman/mage or a shotgun specialist for the tough missions. Physical adepts have some great spells that allow fast movement if this is an issue. I played through on very hard as a kind of melee samurai shaman with lots of strength and dodge and charisma and used haste a lot. Worked very well. I also picked up that body cyberware that lets you dodge attacks once every few turns. I could generally get through missions solo with this character although that Support Mage guy is excellent in any situation. Blind is also a great spell and can make seemingly impossible fights very manageable. A thing I really like about this game is that you can just replay any mission with completely different group setups. I'd suggest trying out lots of the hired help to see who you like.

Cover is your friend. Use it to flank enemies like you would in X-Com so their cover bonuses disappear.

Thanks Sprog 4 and Sarky - let me know if you think of any other tips now matter how basic. (This is literally my first turn-based RPG :o)

    any boardsie making a level/campaign?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

I was all set to start looking at it last night, but was too sleepy to start diverting essential processes to it :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

Still no luck getting the editor to work, I'd have been all over a short campaign by now otherwise :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 434 ✭✭Sprog 4

Anyone have any recommendations from the campaigns already on the Workshop?

    Just beat the game tonight.
Holy crap, the whole last part at the Brotherhood Insect hideout took me FOREVER it must've been 3 hours! I imagine it's down to my lack of TBC skills but it went smoother when I focused on 2 people heading straight for Jessica and shooting her. The having to kill the insects twice (2nd time round, better do it really fast) got annoying. I was down to me and Laughlyn (or whatever his non-SNES name is!) and had to run away from the insects to reload and pot-shot them.

Thought the end chatting to everyone and tying things up was nice - but I'm not a fan of not being able to go back to the union, buy everything you couldn't, go on Shadowruns and max out your stats. At least a few more runs! Overall I'm very happy. Only niggly things was the save function and wow, drones suck smelly butt. They're so useless. And if you've got 99% of hitting him, you will miss a few times. C'MON!

Nitpicks - I LOVED the world, the characters, and even the TBC. Soundtrack was eerie and not in your face, but I really miss the amazing SNES soundtrack (as opposed to alluding to the songs). LOVED running with Jake, it was a really nice surprise. I didn't think McClusky was that much of an ass... Overall great game. 6-8 hours me arse, I must've pumped 30 hours into it! Maybe just the fight scenes comprise 6-8 hours but not if you read what's asked and consider your choices. I hope we get some sweet community levels!

This game has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard.
