    Bumpity Bump

Last chance for tickets tomorow at midday. Going to try myself but don't hold out much hope of getting any :(

    We shall see!

What's left? Some upper tier tickets? If you've any interest in watching the actual fight itself I don't see the point in buying those. Great atmosphere and all that, but I doubt you'd see very much.

Yepee ! tickets got. I may have to bring the binoculars but should be a great night. Think there was a good spread of tickets for sale not just the poverty spec (which I got).

I will be working over there at the time of fight so a few of us are going to head down for the nights action.

    Looking forward to it.

    Froch late stoppage

The May Day Ringside special is worth a watch. Groves still spouting the exact same stuff, and still trying hard to create animosity. Carl's gone the opposite way and has decided to remain calm and collected. Reluctant to get into slagging and hating. This is Groves' fight to lose.

I think a Froch from a couple of years ago would put this loud mouth away but I think the belt will change hands this time. I dont think Carl has it in him anymore. Hope Im wrong. He looks metally fragile and his granite chin took a beating last time.
Hope Carl does it emphatically and not give Groves chance to dispute this time!!!

Just watched it! Froch actually came across a lot mentally stronger than last time. Is it just me or is Groves really annoying and a bit of a d!ck?

Hope Froch KO's Groves and shuts him up once and for all!

Think Groves will knock him out in Round 6. Its obvious Froch has been working with a sports psychologist btw. Froch also much more focussed on his training as he knows he is really up against it

George is becoming to sound like a broken record. The fight is sold, George. No need for the histrionics.

I dont think he is likeable at all whatsoever. I cant see how people are a fan of him. Carl is more down to earth.

I thought the same. Froch has obviously got some good coaching in terms of the mind games. Rather than take on Groves, who is very good verbally, he just let him spout away and by not reacting whatsoever, I thought by the end of the show Groves was getting pissed off that the very obvious tactics weren't having the desired effect.

i think it's all one big act with Groves. I get the impression he believes the end justifies the mean, similar to Ali and Bernard Hopkins actions in the past. i agree with the person that says Carl has taken on a sport psychologist, as he probably rewatched interviews and realised groves was winning the psychological battle.

Bob Mee thinks Jack Reiss is the 1st choice ref for the fight and that there will be an American, Mexican and European judge.

Since the end of the Super Six, Carl's career has been extremely well managed. His and Ward's career have gone in opposite directions. But part of that process was convincing the British public that Carl was 'a massive international superstar'.

That required a certain amount of posturing from Froch and Groves took full advantage of it in order to embarrass him in the last fight's build-up. From what I've seen in the lead-up to this one, I think Carl has gone back to basics and has dropped the attitude that Groves was doing such a good job of taking the piss out of.

I think they all (Froch, Groves, & Hearn) must be taken aback by how well this match-up has done as well though. What a money spinner. Ward must be sick with envy.

Is Ward still active or injured?

If Groves win I reckon it would be an interesting match up v Ward.

Suing his promoter. Pretty much inactive until that's resolved.

Ward is exceptionally talented but don't like how he's so prone to calling out people in lower divisions and then turning around and dodging anyone above him. Hint of Mayweather about him, you'll only ever hear him mouthing off about fights he's got an obvious chance of beating, anyone close to a 50-50% he wants none of it.

Who would you see as giving Ward and 50-50 fight?

Well 50-50 is a crude number but a fighter having a bit of a size advantage, like Kolarov or Adonis Stevenson could cause him problems.

I see what you mean. Kovalev is the same height as Ward and Stevenson is an inch shorter, but obviously being up at 175 they are bigger men. Still, there is no onus on Ward to climb the divisions. These guys are more fearful of Ward than he is of them, a loss to a smaller man would ruin them. Ward UDs them both, but neither is an easy fight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭Henno30

Yeah, Ward does not come across well when he talks about future fights. His refusal to leave California for fights is pretty ridiculous as well given the concentration of European fighters in the SMW division.

His lawsuit against Goossen seems frivolous as well. He's clearly just trying to get out of a contact he signed and is using the conflict between Goossen and Leonard to do it.

Goossen has done a good job for Ward. He got payed ridiculous money for that Rodriguez fight and has HBO solidly behind him. Considering that he is not a crowd pleasing fighter it's hard to see what more could have been done for him at this point.

I'd be less annoyed with him if he didn't spend so much time badger baiting GGG who's a good deal smaller than him.

He is if you read his interview in Boxing News. Calling the fight a domestic fight blaa blaa blaa. Just gutted he can't make that type of money.

It is baffling though how a fight between two fighters a little bit shy of top class are going to have one of the biggest boxing events in history. I thought after the poor ending in the first fight that the boxing public would tell Matchroom to go fúck themselves, obviously not.

    Nothing breeds interest like controversy.

It was a good fight too.

Decent looking undercard as well. Think I'll order it. Although I could be in a Rocky type fight with the missus when she sees the bill! She pays Sky!!

I am hoping for a real ding dong battle. Would hate a quick KO for either man, or a sloppy and awkward sparring session. High octane edge of your seat stuff will do!
