I think Joe was waiting for them to ask him to champion their cause

What's with his "you're not making your story up either"? Is he accusing someone (HSE presumably) of saying they are?

Joe feels that they are not taking him (the most eminent broadcaster in the state) seriously.. As a protest, Joe signed up for private health insurance .. that'll show them..

I don't listen to 2FM so I've missed out on the Lottie Ryan phenomenon. Sadly.

Apparently she interviewed well and was the best only candidate for the job

I agree. I was simply asking whether appropriate services were being afforded to that child. If the HSE has a budget for the welfare of children with special needs whats it doing spending it on full education plans, when it could spend it on respite care and support for families.

strikes me that the only way this group of people will get more funding is for it to be cut from another group of vulnerable people who will be on to lifeline when it happens and so the wheel keeps turning and Joes job is safe, in the middle of it all

Its a tough enough life for these parents without the State putting the boot into them as well

    a sick State

Public Sector employees are judged to have more pressing special needs, like second mortgages.

A lot of resources are put into disability services. There is not enough money in the universe to satisfy all claims for additional resources. As I understand it, in this case, they are being allocated about €20,000 p.a. per person to provide 25 hours service per week. I think that describing this allocation of scare public money as "putting the boot in" is a bit over the top?

Actually my local village have organized one for a few weeks time. A team from our village will take on the neighbouring village at a crossroads in the middle of nowhere.

It's quite a busy road so not sure how they're going to solve that but should be great fun.

He could have used that soundtrack to describe the fun and games the knackers were having in Tullamore graveyard last Sunday.
