Really big fan of a lot of the output in the boiler room series. The Derrick Carter and Ben Klock sets are top notch but for all out rocking it's hard to beat DJ Pierre's set.

What are other people favourites in the series?

I liked the Mark Kinchen set!! He looks a little under the influence of some illegal substance.. Looks like he is having great craic

I like a lot of them myself, particularly the Metalheadz sets, DBridge and Goldie's ones. Although some of the mixing in Goldie's set, is a bit suspect, but top tunes from both.

great producer, but that DJ set is embarrassing. if he spent less time fist-pumping the air, and actually picked up a set of headphones once throughout the whole thing, i might be slightly more impressed.

Good suggestions so far, keep 'em comin. Just for the fact that I'd tear her out of it Nina Kraviz gets a mention. Dodgy mixing aside some quality tunes in this set.

i know there has ,some of the sets have been played there but im talking about the saps that go from one trend to another and the boiler room seems to be a trend now

I wouldn't necessarily call them saps but I know what you mean. The Boiler Room is like, sooo cool right now. :rolleyes:

Dixon b2b Ame - (dixons remix of that ian pooley tune at 37 mins.....)
Ame - both sets where they're on their own.

Four Tet - some parts are tasty..

loads more, boiler room is quality... makes work so much more fun...

Can anyone explain what exactly the idea is behind these sets? Is that a nightclub with paying punters, or just a showcase of DJ's? To be honest apart from the tunes, anyone I've seen looks pretty crap in the background.

Back on topic, the best one I've ever seen, wasn't a boiler room set. It was way way way before any of this boiler room malarkey. And there is more atmosphere in this, then any boiler room set I ever did see.

always wondered the same thing, is it a nightclub, where the video just shows the dj and the vip area, so theres a crowd behind the camera?

the ones in the hotel rooms look good, scuba b2b george fitz is a hotel lobby, scream b2b disclosure is a large hotel room, dixon b2b Ame is a hotel room too.. they would be some craic!

just a showcase really.
anyone there is generally friends of Boiler Room or the artist/their label. generally guestlist only, sometimes an act/label will put up on facebook "send an email to XYZ and we'll put you on the guestlist".
they usually only run from about 7pm-11pm, and usually midweek, so you have plenty of people completely sober, after being working all day.
if i was sober at 7pm on a Tuesday after work, having to leave at 11pm and with work the next morning, i probably wouldn't be going too mad either....

Ha, was thinking the same but if I was at the DJ Pierre set and he was dropping the sort of bombs he was dropping I'd probably be having second thoughts. :pac:

I'm amazed at the amount of DJ's that have been asked on and can't manage to get through a set without at least one mix off pitch.

Not even Garnier managed one. Nicole Moudaber possibly but her mix was less than 30 minutes.

I agree. At first I was disappointed by it, but then I felt reassured; it's made me view my own desperate bedroom efforts in a new light.

this has to be my all time favourite boiler room, Jaar is just a genius.

I was actually at one in Chicago during the summer. I went to see Jaar but his equipment overheated so he couldn't do his set. Got to see Ryan Hemsworth and Jacques Greene though who were both very good.

It was really cool, free in and a free bar as well. The place was packed though and there was no A/C which made the name boiler room all the more appropriate! I'm in the blue shirt in the one below - I can't dance.
