The so-called prolife amendment is, once again, the problem. One cannot place time limits on constitutional rights, such as the right to lifesaving medical treatment. If those who are prolife oppose the Bill, they need to campaign for the repeal of the eighth amendment, as this would mean term limits for the right to livesaving treatment would be dealt with in primary, rather than consitutional, law. But I don't see too many arguing for the appeal of the amendment on prolife grounds.

At 19wks, probably a D&C, the C stands for curate or 'cut up'.

Those priests again. Always sticking their noses where they're not wanted.

The C stands for curettage, which means to scoop or scrape.

Actually it is a practical staement in accordance with the ruling of the Supreme Court Judgement.
Minister Reilly does not have the legal power to limit a constitutional right granted by te Supreme Court, you seem to be determined that he should something that he has no lawful authority to, only the people of Ireland can do that, and in 2002 they overwhelming voted against a referendum which would have overturned the X Case judgement.

The wording of the 2002 referendum was bonkers. They (me included) overwhelmingly voted in favour of having no change to the status quo.

    It would do two things.

    1. It would allow legislators to implement a restriction on abortion in late gestation, although it can be argued that they already enjoy this right anyway.
    2. It would remove the constitutional ban on abortion. There would be no certain legal protections for the unborn in constitutional law. No pro-lifer is going to campaign for the removal of Article 40.3.3.
