Got a new car last Sat. First chance to wash it today. Did the usual snow foam, two bucket etc. Had to de-tar the rear alloys there were so many black spots on them even after Bilt Hammer (from what I don't know, the fronts weren't like that). There's some of that orange spotting on the paint too, it's meant to rain in a bit so I wasn't risking doing a full job on the paint with clay, wax etc but I'll get around to it in a few weeks. I nearly asked the dealer not to touch the exterior but I felt like an awful fussy so and so, plus it's her car not mine - so I bottled it :o

Bilt Hamber dont do a tar remover - so whatever it was, wouldnt have shifted the car - assuming it was Korrosol or Auto Wheel that you used?

Health to enjoy it and to be able to keep her clean! ;)

Gave the beamer a wee bath this morning. Was a lovely morning for it, pity it's pissing rain and horrible now again.

Haha, it's nice from far but very far from nice. It's getting a full window out/strip down respray in the coming months. Well needed, after that it should be pretty sorted, apart from the s54 engine that I'm yet to buy!:)

Ah typical camera trickery to hide damage and swirl marks!! I hear D&D use the same tricks on cars they have "corrected" since their latest employee started working there :pac:

No I just meant that normally the auto wheel removes anything and everything but in this case I still had to use a tar remover. It's like inside the well, there was a sticky substance and either my wheel brushes with brake dust stuck to the glue or it was there anyway. It's still there anyway but I'd be confident if I took the wheels off and de-tarred them, it would come off. I'll get around to it I'm sure! ;)

Did a snowfoam and megs nxt wash today. This time last week I also stuck another coat of collinite 845 on as it had been 11 weeks since I previously put a coat on and was noticing beading was starting to deteriorate.

All prepped and ready for her correction and recoat. Was afraid about how much lacquer I have left but I have acres :pac: paint readings all between 120-150 on original panels and up to 470 microns on the repainted areas, hence my wetsanding :pac:

Testing the panel to see how easy it would be to correct before wetsanding, as you can see it wasn't bad to begin!

Still patchy but will be finishing it in the morning and doing the bonnet/rear quarter.

Patchy is right! You've destroyed the top of the bootlid :pac:

Came out savage though, coating is proving annoying :pac:

    Why so?

It was pretty strong so what I was initially using and seemed like it was doing the job did not cut it once I saw the panel after wiping it down, excuse the pun :P

All done now, not overly happy with the bonnet and boot in the end as the lacquer on them is super soft but delighted other than that, pics to follow.

Some daylight pictures of the final product and my process:

Wet Sanded the bootlid with 2000 sanding disc.

Compounded the boot with Menzerna 300 and Polished with 2200 on a super heavy cut Chemical Guys Yellow Quantum and a D&D Heavy Cut Pad Respectively.

Rest of the car was compounded and refined down with Menzerna 400 on a Super Heavy Cut Quantum pad and ShineMate 1" and 3" Red Polishing Pads.

    Gtechniq Panel Wipe

    Gtechniq CSL + EXOv3.

    Machines used, Shinemate Mini, Das6Pro 8mm, Das6Pro+ 15mm

    Looks fantastic FN!

The nearside rear tyre looks like it's on it's last legs.

It's been mentioned but I've gotten a few opinions and they've said it's good, will get another tomorrow. The angle of the photo plus the sun and shade cast by it makes it look far worse.

That rear quarter panel looks great in the sun.

Is there any special treatment to be taken when washing diamond cut wheels? Currently using meguairs gold glass wash. Been told that some shampoos aren't good for the diamond finish? Any truth?

Shouldn't have any issue with any of the better shampoos. Making sure the wheels are well rinsed is advisable.....Metz will be along to tell you Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel is the job on that finish! ;)
