I had to opt in for my porn on three. It hasn't arrived yet but I'm ready

OMG, You could try talking to teens, I mean you know communicate, like when they were small telling them how to stay safe, difference between right and wrong. Just because they are teens does not mean they lose all concept of communicating, well I know mine did not and I have talked to them openly about sex porn etc and guess what?? They understood.

    What's wrong with porn?

I've never been 'exposed' to porn online. I only see it when I choose to go on a site that has it.

Because Religion is so accessible and free on the internet nowadays, even young children/ teenagers are viewing/getting exposed to it. I hope we all agree this can't continue.

In order to avoid this, I believe all Religion should be filtered from the internet, with the option for an adult to 'opt in' if they wish to view Religion. This protects our young people and at the same time gives adults a choice, whether to view it or not. I'd like to see this initiative spread across the entire EU.

FYP OP...sounds daft, doesn't it? So does your opening post.

Going by the amount of whackjobs blowing themselves and others up with bombs, knifing each other, and general wars, I think religion should be banned outright.

Hell, the term objectify itself is an emotive and subjective term, and often mixed up with sexualisation.

I thought this was going to be about some kind of porn involving filters

    lol
I'm going to set up a tally, see how many times that ad is mentioned as a counter

Isn't anyone you ever jack to being objectified though?

The catholic church should set up residential institutions to protect us from porn and teach us morality. It will be grand. Sure get the nuns to do it. They're good at that.

Think the whole exercise of blocking would be futile, considering most teens would know how to use a vpn or proxy. It would be unworkable. Education is a better tool.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,744 ✭✭✭SeanW

Has this strategy worked effectively thus far? If parents block access, which many do, how come so many still have access to porn at a very young age?
In an ideal world, that would work but it hasn't. That's why Iceland and now the UK are debating it.
Finally, in case you missed my point:

    ADULTS STILL HAVE ACCESS!!!!!
No: Iceland wants to block porn for everyone, even going so far as to criminalise the use of Icelandic credit cards to buy porn. That's all in addition to their existing physical porn bans, their use of the "Swedish model" on prostitution, a partial ban on strip clubs and "gender equality" (a.k.a. feminist propoganda) classes in secondary school.
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/may/26/iceland-crackdown-internet-porn

This is absolutely, 100% the result of Feminist-Left ideology and nothing else, the claim that it's about protecting children is a total fabrication, and if you continue to repeat it, you would be a liar.

Ha. This idea is totally unworkable, and screams of Daily Heil-brand hysteria.

Also, parent your own damn kids. Blocking ANY site cause your little Johnny or Mary might happen upon it is bull****.

There are ways around filters/block that I really can't and won't get into on this forum, so I can see no point in doing so. But in respect to the fact that children can access has to be address, but there are sites that fall beyond those filters as "safe" that still display 18+ rated stuff, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to get access to them

Tbh, the women are generally well paid and more than happy in their chosen career.

Personally I think the constant "LOSE Weight" & "Easy DIET" and "OMG CELEB has Cellulite"

    To be much much worse.

Remember folks; objectifying women is bad, but objectifying men is seemingly part of "girl power", or something :pac:

No, that is not acceptable, we need porn.

No biko but I like the article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/may/26/iceland-crackdown-internet-porn

However, the difference here is the adults can contact their internet provider and ask to be opted into access of porn. Young teenagers are being exposed to this material and as adults it's our responsibility to look out for them.

The only time anyones kids are going to be using my internet is if they break in. Hopefully it isn't my job to teach everyones kids why that is wrong too. I'm a little too busy with my life to raise everyones kids.

If only my missus routinely said the same, to hell with porn, I'd be reverse cow-girling the gowl-grease out of her 24/7.

I did not need to know that..

Interesting proposition. I've been thinking about making and advertising "Irish porn". I'd say it'd make a fortune, particularly if it involved clergy orgies..

..Now we've gone and achieved the opposite effect the OP was hoping for in starting this thread.

Tbf, it's not about not allowing everyone else access to pornography, everyone would have the option if they wanted to look at pornography or not. You would just have to 'opt in' on whatever device you were using. So, when your teenager gets a new phone, you as the parent could set it to 'opt out'. As much as you try to police your kids with the internet, you're hardly going to be able to stand behind them 24 hours a day.

If that was the case then surely there should be no restriction on any device as default and its something that needs to be activated. If you want porn it's there, there is no hoop for you to jump through or programme to opt in it out of. If however, you don't want porn then it's up to you to opt out.
