Saw yesterday evening a big Rat in the back garden.
Saw it coming from underneath the decking area to lawn and goin back.
We have a med. sized back garden with a plastic shed in corner.
Its a semi detached property with no cats in the neighborhood.
Can someone give us ideas to kill them or get rid from our property?
    Thanks

We had a problem a few years ago with rats in the back garden.

There are traps for rats , you can get rat poison or my dad used leave food for them with ground up glass in it , apparently their blood doesn,t clot and they bleed to death.

Bear in mind should you poison or taint food with glass they may die under your decking .

In the end we opted for a Jack Russell ... no more rats , in fact no more nothing ..no plants , no cats , no birds hopping around.

Try some rat traps of get someone with terriers to see if they can get it.

Could lay out poison too but chances are it will die in a hole somewhere and stink the place out, if you do be sure to cover it where birds or other animals cant get at it.

You can lay rat traps yourself or call in a company to do it for you.

I use a couple of Rat Bait Stations from Woodies (around €10 each) loaded with 2 Storm stars all year round to keep the blighters under control.

Reason I ask is a large rat would be the dominant rat and is a bit of a challenge for a ferret to take on

My JRT was showing off today , he managed to catch a starling and tear it apart in front of Mrs Mattjack. She,s not impressed.

Go to your nearest Woodies or B & Q store and buy Rat Poison. Put it in a pipe along the edge of a wall and sit back and let them kill themselves. They may well die under your decking and maybe there will be a smell but it is better than rats. I would also talk to your neighbours and get them to do the same

Oh and if there is one there are more around. Keep the poison in place even when they are no longer to be seen in case another comes along.

Poridge oatlets(cheapest variety) a spoon of sugar and some hardwall or similar powder filler, mixed together, put in a put in a piece of pipe during dry weather. Problem solved.
