I would guess it was one of the general aviation aircraft in parking bravo. Private jet or similer.

I was listening this afternoon and heard someone (missed the callsign) from an aircraft asking the ground crew to check their fuel level with a dipstick! Is this the norm? Must have been something small!

All Boeing aircraft can still be refuelled to stick. Usually happens if a fuel tank gauge is inoperable. That particular tank will be fuelled to stick. All tanks will be stick checked should there be a discrepancy after refuel. If the amount of fuel uplifted is les than -1% or +2% more than the estimated uplift. Another occasion can be if the refueller finds the remaining fuel is less than the remaining fuel entered in the tech log by, I think, 500kgs on narrow body aircraft and 1,000kgs on wide body aircraft. I hope this is of some help.

Just to let you know I will be providing a feed for weston tower starting this weekend. It's up on liveatc and I will be finishing the setup on Saturday. The scanner I have is not perfect, issues with the the squelch staying open, but the reception is good.

Feck that, tell us all about it now, how are you sorting the splitter, or is it independant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 618 ✭✭✭Dublinflyer

The splitter was easy enough in the end. I bought a TV splitter and amp that covers the right frequency range and an airband filter that blocks out everything outside aviation frequencies. I used some westflex cable as well as all the connections can cause loss in signal strength, expensive stuff but I only needed a small amount. Seems to be working ok so far but let me know how it sounds when I bring it online this weekend.

    Has Mech1 been banned?

Didn't even know there used to be a Runway 23! When was that taken out of service?

Cessna 172 EI-MCF departed Weston just as it was getting dark for Cork earlier climbing to FL80 via INKUR-SHA-CRK which was interesting to hear.
I had to look up Inkur.

Sorry guys, i'm back now, bit of a indiscretion on another topic, the ban was perfectly warranted.

Enough about that. Now how you all keeping? Did anyone copy the pilot that recons he was lied to by the fuel supply guy? Think it was Monday night. I will post a link to the archives.

Absolutely, completely unprofessional from the ops guy. Sounds like his job is an inconvenience to him. Awful trait for people to have.

Worrying to see in such a procedural industry such as aviation. Hopefully, it's just an isolated incident.

Does anybody know why all the regionals are breaking off approach and diverting as soon as the hear it is "raining at the field"? I'm guessing its due to braking coefficient but why don't we hear this when the winds aren't as bad? What is it with the combination of high winds and rain that makes it not even approachable?

Good few diversions in the last 10 minutes.
