I think the GoTab would be faster as it has a dual processor whereas the Archos has a single processor.

Some reviews of Archos on Amazon:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Archos-97-Carbon-Processor-Playback/dp/B008BPI378/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1371998932&sr=8-3&keywords=Archos+9.7%22+Internet+Tablet

tnx for reply...would the fact that the archos one has 16gb storage be better. Go tab only has 8 but would it be possible to increase this and if so how?

The GoTab spec description at the bottom says:

    • 8GB onboard Storage** expandable via Micro SD Card Slot (maximum 32GB)

    So you could get this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007JTKLEK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Though I not sure if there is an advantage to having 16GB on board already over having to use the micro card. Someone else might know on here?

Also I would say the Archos has that a micro card slot too.

I cant imagine what you'll get if you pass ;)

    Wrong. €120 vs €250

You get what you pay for

I get €50 for a pass and if I get an A so CSPE or anything its €100. Its helpful lol. Well if you have the money the Nexus is so so worth it.

I find this reward system kinda strange for passing exams. Is that your only motivation to study?!

Well I study to get good grades and that but yeah it surely does help.

I've had this tab for about a day and I have to say it's pretty good. Does everything well and for 120 euro, really worth the price.

I got a Nexus 7. Compared to the ops post, the Nexus 7 has 4 CPU cores, it has a 5th companion core and it has 12 GPU cores! There really is no comparison
Nexus 7 has no HDMI out so it's no good for hooking up to a TV to watch movies.

If you have a smart TV you can probably send movies to it wirelessly via DNLA.

I'd be interested in seeing the battery life for this. That's the biggest minus on these tablets. No point in having a tablet if you have to plug in the the thing after 3 hours use (a lot of the cheaper ones get less than 2 hours).

yes but I'd like to hear from actual users who have it. claimed battery life figures can frequently not be accurate in my experience.

Collected mine yesterday and spent about 3 hours downloading from play store and watching movies – after that battery was still at 56%. Looks good so far. Definitely no better tablet for the money in a bricks & mortar store. Keep an eye on the DID site for the next reduction.

Battery life pretty good here too. Two days moderate usage before having to plug in again.

The missus uses the one here and I've yet to hear her complain about battery life. Her s2 seems to be constantly charging in comparison.

It's hard to find a suitable cover for this tablet as it is quite narrow. I got this one and it is actually a very good fit. Cover is good for protection and standing to watch movies but not good for the lower tilt "typing" position that some covers have.

most butons are on show but the power button has to be pressed through the cover - works quite easy though.

    i also got this 32GB Class 10 sd card and it works fine with the tablet;

back to 129 again, anyone recommend it now given time passed since first posted

For 129 you can't really go wrong. The display is not the sharpest but my main gripe with it is that it is quite sluggish and slow.

In general sluggish and slow or when doing specific or multiple tasks?

Generally sluggish. Fine for browsing, email, etc, but just about.

I have one and ended up giving it away.
    Far too sluggish for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,447 ✭✭✭AlanG

Found mine a bit sluggish at first but then I turned off the auto data update and sync in data settings and it performs much better. Screen is not as bright as I would like. Speaker is pretty good.
Battery is very good and most apps run fine. I am happy with it for the price. Great for the kids watching movies etc.

Can anyone know tell me if the 10" Android GoTab Tablet from DID has a USB poet for a meteor dongle?

Open to correction but my father in law has one. He watches films from USB on it. I think he has a wire that he connects the USB to that connect to the tablet. Nearly sure it came with it.

An OTG cable does the trick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 148 ✭✭BandyMandy

I emailed DID and got this reply,.... "There is no 3g support available on this item only Wifi so you cannot connect a dongle to it"

What have movies got to do with a modem?

Android won't have the drivers for the meteor dongle anyway.

You'd need to move to a mobile wifi hotspot
