and a decent taxi it makes. Was the only thing it could become realistically.

It is a decent taxi. Super cheap yet perfect for the job.

Hint: it now has taxi badges :pac:

There's probably only one 3.3l petrol '08 Grandeur in the country I would have thought...

I imagine the Grandeur Owners Club of Ireland meetings would be rather lonely affairs....

... I don't think so. IIRC the Sligo one had a KE reg and that taxi D reg is showing no change of ownership in last 3m. Surprised it sold so quickly though but buying for use as taxi makes sense.

Nice Daimler with brand new NCT for under €3k. Probably not to everybody's taste but this is absolutely perfect to my eyes

Beautiful and rare original Irish Daimler.

New NCT would give me a fair bit of confidence, the colour looks a lot better in the flesh than the photo, though it's not something I'm particularly fond of. Nice reg.

One minor issue is that the seller claims 130000 miles, the NCT disc says 152000.

    +1

Had the same tranny in my early 90s 530i V8 and while a good transmission back then (5 speed), dunno either how much life would be left in it after it's already done over 150k miles (240k km)

Bit overpriced for what is essentially a bit of a gamble - '17 NCT is nice though...

The NCT cert also says its a Jaguar so I wonder what the story is there.

If it were my car I would be having them reprint that

Easy mistake as it's just a clone of a Jaguar.

Yes the Daimler moniker is almost more of an upmarket trim level than a make. Easy identifier from Jaguar is the rippled top of front grill and same at rear over number plate.

Yes it's often called a fluted grille. Plus you have the daimler D in the headrests and the tables for the rear seats. Still it's all a nice little upgrade from the jag.

Don't worry they'll find a phone box somewhere to have a party. BTW there is no begging board on that taxi ???

Agreed on the color but it represents great value to be fair.
    Shape looks dated now alright.

In fairness that shape is nearly 20 years old I think they still look great I fact I had decided to buy mullingars one but I found a newer one from another Boardsie. Class car and totally bullet proff I'd buy it in a heart beat..

Those GS's are cockroaches. They refuse to die and will survive any nuclear holocaust. Trust me, I had mine 9 years and it cost buttons to maintain.

For a near 20 year old car they aged very well.

whilst I get what you are saying, I dont understand the "its 20 years old therefore it has aged very well"

A car either looks good or doesnt. Imo It doesnt it looks dated and every bit of the 20 years that it is.

I take the points being reliable and very cheap

Two weeks ago he was looking for 3 grand. Which was overpriced.

Now he's looking for 2 grand which is a bit more realistic given it has a long NCT, but still a bit rich imho

There are very few people out there buying 15+ year old cars that cost the guts of €2k per year to tax. Those few people that do buy them, want them for next to nothing...

Everything's a bit rich for you to be fair though. :)

I'm not sure how (assuming haggling)'you could get that for much less than €1500. Prices of these cars have gone up in the last two years from the bottom of the barrel that they were. How much cheaper do you want to buy it?

@€;1750 it seems a fair price given the spec and the NCT which means it's somewhat mechanically sound. I'd love it.

    Indeed :D

I'm usually not wrong though, am I? :p

Would love the Daimler myself and I am one of those few people who have forked out max tax for many cars over the years - not at the moment though, but will do it again in future
