Normally not my bag, but this colour combination looks badass.

That leather is such a good colour. Seems familiar though - did we have this a few months ago?

looks clean, but thats one of the lowest spec e38's we've ever had here. Who the hell paid for that colour leather and carpet and just said 'screw everything else'

That colour leather is awful, but somehow yanks like it.

Each to their own, but definitely not for me.

Indeed, I must say, I like it.
I also like the Ox blood color leather in a pug 607, but that's me.

Such a nice car is let down so badly by most owners I see driving them.

They never get a proper clean or polish/wax in most cases.

The cl should be immaculate to show how prestige it is.

€5999 for this from a dealer, so there's some kind of warranty on it. Brand new NCT and they say its been serviced (but the last stamp in the bbok is 2011). It's a late 2004 so not as fragile as some of the earlier ones.

Says in the ad that the car cost 180,000 new. Is he serious?!!!

That would be around £140,000 in 2001 so it wouldn't be too far off the mark, probably nearer to €150-160,000 though.

FWIW a 500 SEL cost £72,000 list price in 1985.

That Merc has no NCT and has been for sale for a good while, I'd be very wary of it, they cost serious money to maintain.

In 2004 it cost €153,800 excluding options, so if its all optioned up then it could be. (Source)

And that was the cheapest of the 4 CLs available at the time!

I think there's two CL600s for sale on the net at the moment, one is the older naturally aspirated and the other is the biturbo that makes 500hp, I'd say they were pricey new. The biturbo is asking €15k, think it's an '03 or '04.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,501 ✭✭✭ofcork

The 600 was over 200k new similar to the 55 AMG and the 65 was over 330k!

It is surely the greatest sign of poor marketing that a car seller would not bother to drive down the road to a leafy lane or a piece of open ground, the coast , a local beauty spot, a landmark - something to show the car off.

    Nice though the car is.:(

Can't agree. The ad is straight up, car was taxed until a few weeks ago and has a long NCT. I'd trust an ad like that over one with fancy pics made in fancy places.

Go have a look Mark, My gut tells me that car is good.

Found another one here that is possibly an all round better buy, although double the price.

That said... I did have a look at a 2004 325ci M-Sport today that I'm hoping to pick up later in the week, find it very hard to leave the BMW stable.

    Never say never though...

    Without an NCT? Risky.

Sweet car for the money. Eyes wide open though. Has been out of NCT for 2 years.

Still cant get over the logic that the tax on a 5 litre v8 is the same as a 3 litre diesel

    It's not, there's €312 difference.

Still that CL500 is stonking value, I will own one soon.

dodgy add too. 089 number, going on 'holydays', and MERCEDES as the name. Wonder how many ads they have up if they need people to say the make of car when they answer the phone.

You'd wonder too why it hasn't been nct'd, was it to do with dodging tax or is there something wrong that was too expensive to put right for a test

if you google his number you will find links to
    01 ford focus
    01 opel agila
    Audi A8

Not an indicator of a "problem". However it's probable that this is not his personal car....
the NCT thing would defo put me off...

I can't see his A8 for sale but I can see he kept relisting the anglia at different prices.

Seems he sold the cl500 for 5,200 before http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/cl-500-mercedes-benz/9883213

Maybe he got no interest so he hid the 260k kms and lowered the price.

But going from pictures in his little yard with the other cars for sale, to the 'nice' pictures beside hedges in a residential area is a bit misleading if that's not his house. Could be he's genuinely going on holy-days or he wants rid of a problem asap.

Even though his second ad says too many extras to list, when he went ham on it the first time trying to list them all he didn't actually list any more, maybe he doesn't have a clue what spec the car has?

No change of ownership in the last 3 months though. The whole thing is a bit odd, out of nowhere within a month of eachother this guy lists multiple cars, none of which seem to be his. All the pictures are in wildly different places.
