This will either be really easy, or impossible. =/

I saw that someone posted a tweet that said not to worry if we start crying or anything, because apparently the paper is designed to absorb your tears and turn them into attempt marks!

Prrof by induction is gonna be the death of me. I'll never understand that :(

Sweet jesus, I am unbelievably screwed for differentiation and integration. This really could go either way. Paper 2 will bring everyone up though because it has Stats and Probability :P

Absolutely terrified at what they'll throw at us in Contexts & Applications, everything else I should hopefully be grand. I don't really know what to study for it right now tbh. :/

hopefully financial maths play a small role, really hate it.

If we can get differentiation, Integration, Complex No.s, Induction, and Know basics of finance we should be ok!

Leave nothing blank lads! Low partial credits FTW!

Don't worry too much if this one doesn't go your way. In the last pre I did, I got 45% in Paper 1 and then 75% in Paper 2 :)

Is this all we need to be able to prove?

    De Moivre's Theorem
    Differentiation proofs
    First Principles
    Geometric and Arithmetic series formulae
    Infinite geometric series formula

Have I left anything out? Is there anything else that we just need to know off by heart?

Think thats it, half know them, feel like proofs won't play a major role in p1 tbh. Its certainly a matter of 0 or 1 coming.

Can a theorem come up on paper 1? Any genuine predictions?

    I like Maths :)

I'd say you could write an equation vaguely related to the question and get 5 marks for it out of 15 based on last years paper.

I know the first principles and that's it out of all that

I don't think P1 will be that bad, other than financial maths I'm generally ok with it. P2 on the other hand...

What do people think is important to focus on at this stage?

Also what are the proofs for arithmetic and geometric formulae?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 301 ✭✭Undeadfred

Proofs for the series formulae are on wikipedia

Is prove and construct an irrational number p1?

Sometimes its nearly impossible to root out what they are actually asking! Its likely to be a 50 marker unfortunately.

I don't know about you, but it feels like such a relief to be able to study maths now without having to think about essays, or poets etc. Maths is so much more relaxing to study! :)

Financial Maths will be 25 marks IMO

I always mess it up if I do it in pen. But we were told pen could fade if it's too light. If doing in pen make sure it's HB.
