Got up this morning and found 6 goslings and 10 ducklings all killed (all birds in pen). No heads missing but have a mark on their throats......

This pic I outlined the bite mark as it wasn't that clear in the picture.

    Mink,
I feel sorry for you, get a trap now because he will visit the scene again.

Sardines and oil as bait, wear gloves when setting the trap.
I gas them with a petrol car running into a coal sack rather then trying to shoot them and damage the trap.

Its worthwhile keeping a trap set constantly as you never know when a lad will show up ;) I have 4 fenn traps and 1 mink cage trap set around my pen. Havent caught a mink in about 6 months and the fenns are there for the odd rat every once in a while but at least having traps going the whole time you may catch the fecker before he gets to your poultry.

i trap a lot of mink, if you have a .22 you can buy 'bird shot' or 'rat shot' its a .22 round loaded like a shotty shell, very tidy and quick way to dispatch. its light enough to fire into the trap with no damage, its main use is for fireing at birds in grain stores afaik. wont even damage galvinised sheets.

just a tought if it any addition to anyone

    They can be hard got.

i have a box and a bit left, and use them sparingly.

We had a visit from Charlie last week took all 6 birds, left me with feathers.
I have only myself to blame for not being active enough with the lamp.:(
