Garda mangement had nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the story. The only thing they did was confirm it when I put it to them. It wasn't a leak. I had been working on it for a week.

Hadnt realised it was yourself who broke the story of the cold case review, fair play

My comments re:the Commissioner were based on her performance thus far which I believe to unsatisfactory in light of the OHiggins report and all that has gone on in senior mgmt of AGS since 2014.

Im also a bit perturbed by the instigation of a cold case review. While fresh eyes on the case files are welcome I also wonder to myself how they can deem it to be a cold case when there are allegations that the main suspect has never been interviewed in 39 years. That to me is far from cold, its a red hot case if only members of the Gardai would go and interview him. The cold case review wont be interviewing anyone which is pretty staggering IMO.

It's good to see this case finally getting the attention it should have got a long ago, even this thread has got 6,000 more views since this morning, and the CT forum has an awful lot more visitors than normal, I think people are sharing this thread on FB?
Hopefully there's too much public knowledge now to allow the cover-up to continue as it has over the past 39 years, I do think the 6 month investigation is a little too long, people could be arrested now and questioned, it well could be another stalling attempt.

Yes, credit where credit is due.

I'd say that Garda management is crestfallen with the reaction to their new initiative.

If anybody really thinks about the if's and why's of this case I don't think it's beyond belief that a paedophile ring is at work here, a paedophile ring that involves a lot of powerful people, how else could this be swept under the carpet for so long and fobbed off?

I hope the garda investigation looks into this side of things aswell as pursuing the suspect, he'll probably be dead'ed because he's expendable, he'll be found to be the murderer, case closed, but there's an awful lot more to this than one person, or even two, these are evil people, with power that nobody want's to delve into for whatever reasons, I think this new investigation will go only as deep as the public will accept and the suspect will die, then found guilty, nothing else to see here folks.

It would be unusual, but not beyond the realms of possibillity for a female
-if not part of such a ring- to be aware of and accommodating of the goings on,and even be a procurer

There is definitely something more sinister at work here, when two retired Gardai make statements about political interference, there is definitely some substance to those claims. But the key question then is why? Why would a political figure in the South Donegal region seek to halt an investigation, which had identified a key suspect.

It may be because of a Paedophile ring, or was it simply because the main suspect was a member of that political figures party and they didn't want the party name dragged through the mud through association. If it was the latter, then opposition parties would jump at the chance to attack the Political party in question. There is currently a reluctance for major parties to do that, so that makes me doubt this was the case.

The Paedophile ring option is plausible, but to influence current politicians across the two main parties, that ring would need to involve some exceptionally powerful people, golden circle types who can lobby parties in a large scale.
We have seen other cases where the government have essentially been gagged, so who knows, something similar may have happened back then.

Ultimately a little girl dissapeared and was most likely murdered, and an well known elected politician intervened and stopped Gardai from questioning the person they though was the main suspect. As a result, that suspect has never been questioned and that little girl has never been found 39 years on. It is a disgrace and shameful for our Country, this should be made a priority case after 39 years of hashing it up.

Your right, the suspect was only a member of FF, which anybody can choose to be, he's expendable in terms of the party, it's much bigger I suspect, nobody wanted to touch it with a barge pole, from any party, the players are big fish in a small pond, I can only come to the paedophile ring assumption, there's no other reason, in my head anyway.

I think they can only block it in Ireland, with an IP spoofer I'm sure it's still there, don't have one on this laptop to check, but somebody getting scared, it will keep popping up, what's on the web, stays on the web.

    It didn't say removed!
