well lads, was out shooting today and as i was rounding a corner i spotted a strange red headed bird looking out of the grass, it was very like a young cock pheasant but he was white all over with a red head, he wasn't at all weary of me either.. i followed him up the lane so i could get a good look at him and walked within 9 or 10 feet of him and he wasn't really bothered. there is always pheasants around the area but i have never seen one of these. any ideas what it was?

also meant to mention, i did 'hoosh' him on a bit to see if he would fly and he did take off like a pheasant but landed 20 feet down the field :)

Could the red have been his droops on his face? There is a good few white pheasants being released around the area and they would have big red droops at this time if the year

You were told a month ago, and provided with a link, to the shooting seasons of various birds, and animals. Here it is in case you forgot.

I suggest you read the link provided, and familiarise yourself with the seasons, and think twice before posting about shooting protected birds out of season again. Once is an accident, twice is pushing it. There won't be a third time.

Seen a white one last week that had a red head on him
Heard of gun clubs letting one or two out as a prize to the members of the club
    Something different I suppose
Anyone back us up on that or am I way off?

No lad your spot on, club beside us released 4 white cocks, only one was shot in the season, they haven't been seen since the first day of November so don't know if they survived or fell to a fox, but I haven't met them on my travels !
