Other cars ahead on that list, Focus ST and a wet lapped GT86.

I'm a yank tank fan all day every day but a 1.6 Integra is gonna kill an 8L V10 Ram around Mondello, never mind a race prepped car!

Heheheh yeah it will but who has the most fun?

(Also, if it were an 800 bhp dodge ram it might be a different story :P )

You're the one that brought in the stig reference

And that's a fair contest, right? A seasoned track day veteran in a track you know well, against a rookie driver with 0 experience. Ill be going to the track day so we will see then. Until then it is just cloak and dagger rhetoric imo.

    Lets see in october :)

(Unless of course I have a complete brainfart and bring the dodge ram if I get it that is :P )

A 'Stig' driver meaning the same lad in both cars, never made mention of track.

You just called me a seasoned trackday veteran which is a bit of a stretch tbh but anyway, do you not think that means I'm basing my opinion on something? Do you think you're the first with your opinion? I've seen 535d's down there, while they're not slow they're not exactly quick round the track. Now go to Kirkistown and it's a different story where it's all about top end

Dodge Ram? Max you thieving git that's my feckin dream machine someday!!!!

It better be petrol, at least leave me with a 5.9 :pac:

Max, as much as I appreciate your 535d, I did go for a spin in it! :D out on track is a totally different story. I'd be on Gary's side on this one.

There's so many more things you have to think about with your car, what's the brake fluid like, how's the suspension going to cope, what are the tyres like etc.

I can give my car as an example. It has fully rebuilt front suspension, a new anti roll bar, 17 inch wheels with low profile tyres, brand new brakes and all the fluid changed. I'd wager that my car would stand a track day better than yours, and mine isn't going near one!

After a few laps you could have your brakes fried, it's also an auto and while it has sport mode, you simply won't have the control of the manual Teg, couple that with the fact that its a heavy 4 door saloon and I bid you the best if luck though I'm doubtful you will beat Gary.

If you asked me I wouldn't bring your car on a track full stop but that's just me.

Yeah man mondello's tight compared to the top gear test track and it requires a nimble car, something that neither of ours are :)

We will be well down any possible ranking on the day obviously me more so.
I've driven plenty of quick cars and although the 30d is nippy its not as quick as a nicely setup petrol yolk.

    Down in Cork for a few days and surprised to see not as many older cars as I thought. Did see an ancient farmery Mazda 626 from the 80's though. Looked like a shed on wheels. From my travels around I can only surmise the following;

    - Cark people like to do donuts on back roads. A lot!
    - Most popular cars of Cark people seem to be Toyota Prius', Honda Jazz's (with 40km/h speed limiters), and tarted up 6th gen Honda Civics.
    - Some great little roads full of hills, twists, and bends.
    - Those roads are scary as f### at night!
    - Not so many Cark people?
    - Avoid Ballydehob next time. Seems to be some sort of vegan commune?

It's also a proven fact that american cars/jeeps etc are afraid of corners :pac:

Ive thought on a few occasions that an ATM gosafe van has 'got' me and waited for weeks to find nothing in the post :)
Well today, unless my car doesnt actually show up on digital cameras, it will have been snapped doing 100 in an 80:(

Good thing one of my french mates was driving it ;)

Lads, If you need someone to drive the 'Teg and the 535D around Mondello I would be more than happy to do so :)

    :pac:

Also I wonder how the Levin would do on the track? reckon It would be fairly fast, obviously not Integra fast, But I would like to think fairly close. Car owners always think their cars are faster than they actually are though :o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,605 ✭✭✭toastedpickles

I don't think my car is fast.....because it's not :pac:

would love to get this car to take it under my wing and turn it around. they probably have as much character as an alfa and the facelifted cars will be a bit of a classic in years to come imo. an interesting drive too, had my heart broken by one before but i wouldn't let it stop me!

how did the sill protectors go zeb?

nothing worse than a dose of buyers remorse :pac: ah you wanted them bad so you had to get it out of your system and buy them, i'd say they will tidy up nice!

No once I had his number he was easy to get hold of :) Twas a 330km round trip (I went mostly back roads :D) but I had nothing else to do and was dying to have a good drive in the Levin :)

EDIT: I think MM is going to have a crack at them, Fingers crossed :)

330km  safe to say they cost a little more than the asking price then! even more so after you look after MM for his troubles :pac: that said he's probably the man for the task.

hoping to get my own car into cleancar this week coming or next to get a full correction now that i'm back in waterford, the paintjob is probably its biggest downfall and i want it to make a good impression to any prospective purchaser.

IMO you won't see the money of the paint correction back. If you get it to the condition it was in for the Glendalough meet very few will know the difference.

Speaking of a meet, would there be any interest in one before everyone goes back to college and the weather is still nice etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

i don't think for a second that i'd see the money back, i just don't think it'd sell at all the way it is right now, it just looks tired. the evening sun must have been kind to her in glendalough.

i'm very interested in this car http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-celica/5524255 so much so i'd be tempted to buy it and wait on the sale of the starlet. the guts of a years test, VVTL-i and leather, high spec and the right colour.

as for a meet, i'm back in college this monday the 9th and in Wales the following week i think. but time/ location dependent i will do my best :)

Those celicas have got shocking cheap! Looks like a nice one too but I would be worried about what the owner calls a "parking ding". People class those sort of things very differently.
