I think everyone is from all over the country.

A few posts back someone had said how there was another position being advertised in the Cork area so I assume that's why you're starting from the phone interview.

If you look through the thread you will find some good tips if you progress through the next stages. Good luck :)

This waiting game is getting Tiring Does anyone think if a few more of us call , it may speed up the process or we might at least get a day we wil here Its not really mid July anymore now!

I hear ya... I'd assume if they were going to start calling people to make offers they would start it first thing in the morning and dedicate the day to it in case people miss calls etc so I doubt it will be today either in my opinion.

I agree. Must have more applicants than we thought. My stomach is in knots with the nerves.

For all we know they may be doing that Bunny :(

Its a long process id say matching candidates to their preference area along with preference of part time/full time so in fairness its probably taking them a while

    Keep the faith :)

I was holding off on accepting a 7 month contract position. Don't know what I'll do now.

I just emailed there too. Maybe you could wait until we hear back to see if we get a clearer answer from someone else before you decide what to do?:)

Why don't you ring them and explain your situation - worth a try at least. Your head must be wrecked right now not knowing what to do.

Just got emailed back saying the next few weeks but it seemed like it was an automatically generated email - very similar to the one I got the other day with just a few words changed around. I think it may be better to give them a call at this stage!

Yes, I might have to. Don't want to turn it down and then not get SGS. But neither do I want to start the contract job and be stuck with a 4 week notice clause. Just my bad luck!

i would ring and explain your situation . Tell them you woukd prefer the sgs position and ask can they give any indication how you have done. [Waiting is nerve wrecking.

Ya you should definitely ring - you might end up losing out on the two positions! At least you're guaranteed the 7 months at the moment. Have you much time left to sign the contract?

Job is due to start on 29th. They already delayed the starting date for me. Thought I would know at this stage.

    To Whom It May Concern,
SGS is an international company with over 75,000 employees and you think its a good idea applying to such a large company and then publicly talking trash about them online? .....Id say they have access to the internet

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Strongbow10

id say SGS are very close to making offers now in fairness to them.

When you think of what they have to do its actually a very arduous process, its not just offering jobs to those on their shortlist, they will have to filter it in 2 ways, both by location and also by part time/full time.

Its not your typical job vacancy. For the poster worried about another position, maybe call them and tell them your worries, if you want SGS over the other job maybe explain that to them and maybe they will be able to tell you there and then if you're on a shortlist for an offer.

My one worry is the advertisement of the role in Cork only last week. I hope we are not waiting on that entire interview process to finish before hearing anything.

I'm in the same boat, have actually turned down one 6 month contract, and am mulling over another one aswell but i'd really like the SGS role more than anything.

I don't think anyone is slating the company. We were told at the interview stage that we would know mid July whether we are successful or unsuccessful. People are just anxious to hear back about the positions applied for as can be expected in this day and age.

There have been three stages so far and we all have come such a long way from when we applied for the position at the very beginning and have been on this journey together through this thread.

People are just discussing their opinions, reassuring others and letting them know if they hear anymore information etc etc.

Ah as far as I can see, no one is publicly "talking trash" about SGS. Jesus, relax.
