Ken's review of the espn article reviewing crumlin is hilarious. Marlo from the wire holding meetings on the Iveagh grounds bowls lawn

Not to jump on you given the thread but "much maligned"? By who?

John Giles wouldn't necessarily agree with anything Ken Early has to say about football. Eamon Dunphy thinks Ken is cogent but also that he is wrong.

How could I forget that according to Roy Keane what Ken thinks doesn't really matter.

God knows what Stan "the Gaffer" Staunton thinks.

Barely anyone out there with a good word to say about him.

Eoin, on the other hand, is amazing.

Anyone know what the song was for the new audio clip featuring the local radio end of match commentary from last weeks Mayo game ?

That Mid-West Radio clip is brilliant, whatever objectivity they had in the first place is gone out the window "He's stealing a yard, he's stealing a yard, you need to get back, GET BACK!!!"

And that new Richie one is pure gold.

Reminded me of the Rugby League one.

Richly enjoyed that new audio clip of mashed up contextless clips from the McGregor-Mayweather press nonsense; that dementedly crackers laugh of McGregor really sounds unhinged.

Pissed off I didn't get my Ken travel jingle but this was good instead.

Yikes, the podcast is 20 mins old and this is a car crash. Ken buy yourself a decent hotel room. You're not in the 18-21 market.

He's badly out of sorts. Ranting, sounds sick & miserable. No real analysis or even any understanding of what it's like to be near the venue. If a paid contributor turned up and said Ken's words the interview would have been cut short.

You mean yesterday's podcast from his motel bed?

Sure he'd only arrived over there. What were you expecting?

My pocketcasts isn't showing a podcast for today so I presume I'm not missing a more recent pod.. maybe I am.

No today's, think yesterdays was good, make up your own minds but it ended up just sounding badly off to me. Not just Ken's fault.

Thought he sounded unusually caustic, even by the usual standards of Ken in Vegas. His observations about the Irish yahoo, with his head sticking out of the stretch limo, had a current of strong unfaked hatered running through them - not that I'd probably feel any different myself, but there's usually a charming cynicism to his ranting and raving. In this instance, it felt like he truly despised that ejit shouting at women on the strip.

Seriously should they not have been lining up interviews in vegas rather than have Ken speaking from the worst hotel in the world. Crap is what they offered up with the exception of mark Horgan who got 3 minutes to provide decent analysis.

Mixed bag once they went over the Ken in Vegas.

Outside of that I thought the discussion between Eoin and Murph at the start about betting and bookies was interesting. A small example of how important the being an independent, fan funded project could be. Not too sure other podcasts with a bookmaker sponsor would be able to even have a soft discussion about betting like that. Maybe I'm over playing it!

You think a gambling firm would have objections to a podcast they sponsor talking about gambling? Well if you do I have to tell you that you would be very wrong.

That's exactly what I'm saying. It's not what they discussed, it's how they discussed it that matters. I'm not going to listen back and start quoting the conversation they had but it's rare to hear odds for a sporting event talked about at any great length without someone on the line from one of the big bookmakers that's all, which is more advertising than journalism.

It was not an overly critical assessment of gambling in sport by Eoin and Murph, but a small example of how they are not beholden to any sponsor and have full editorial control of the show. Just thought it was worth noting.

Maybe, maybe the vegas betting odds would not have been mentioned with an Irish betting sponsor but I didn't hear anything else a bookmaker sponsor would object to anything unless I'm forgetting.

The vegas odds added nothing for this listener as I don't understand them.

It's inspired. Also love the Delaney/Grand Designs one, although listening to the vomit-inducing yokels of our legislature in the sample makes it a little dark, if I think too much about it.

McGregor didn't win, but the lads (Mark Horgan in particular) laughed at the prospect of it even being competetive. Would like to see him eat a bit of humble pie about it but I won't hold my breath.
