how much in total did Dublin Bus spend in 2011 and how much profit/loss did they make do you know?

You can find all of DB's annual reports here:

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/about-us/Reports/Annual-Reports/

They made a lose of 18 million in 2011 and are carrying an accumulated loss of 48m in 2011.

    For 2011:
    Operating costs: 270m
    Revenue (mostly fares): 178m
    PSO Grant: 73m

yes, value for money. personally having to pay 4.40 to go 4 stops and have a to wait 47 minutes in total, is just disgraceful to be honest.

Can I ask what bus route you're referring to?

The only €4.40 fare is on Xpresso routes and you'd want to be traveling a lot more than 4 stops to hit that fare. Even then, you could travel cheaper using a prepaid ticket or Leap Card

that was dart. the same return bus journey about 15 mins each way is €4.80 by the way into city center.

cheers, to say those figures are shocking is an understatement..paying the Ce almost 200k is just disgraceful.
Included in Wages and Salary costs is an amount of €188,150 paid to Mr. P. Doherty, Chief Executive.
total operating cost of €270,139,000 of which €181,167,000 was spend on payroll.

3345 employees receiving on average just under 55k each.
losses of €91,828,000 of which €73,032,000 was paid for by the state.

how is such a badly run company being allowed to continue like this? wouldnt a wage cut of 15-20% help to cut these loses and not force the public to over pay for such a poor service?

We are talking Booterstown to Pearse I take it?

You keep saying only 4 stops. 4 stops on a commuter rail journey is not exactly down the road!!

What was the reason for the waiting time? What time of the day was it, and was it a Sunday?

Did you check the timetable beforehand?

As pointed out above the bus fare drops to €4.20 using LEAP and the train to €3.90 for the return journey.

You are ignoring the fact that the differential between cash fares and LEAP fares is being slowly artificially increased to make using cash less attractive.
