Saw it now...joke that one got it and other didn't. Refs job is to enforce rules, not day how the player should be playing shots.

DJ shot, if taking that stance, would clatter the root of the tree, so he wouldn't take that stance.

Rory should have angled slightly and gone wide stance. Think he can feel aggrieved

Yes it does look like if DJ tried to play the shot that he would have hit the tree on the downswing and the ball was also going to hit the tree.

The ref should have told him to wise up. Otherwise Rory was also entitled to the free drop.

    McIlroy is definitely still rattled.

The DJ one is the issue. Nearly everyone ageees rory didn’t deserve a drop. Want to hear what a few of dj’s fellow pros have to say about it.

Definitely going to hit the tree on that view, looks pretty much same as Rory’s.

If DJ was forced to play the shot instead of getting a drop,he would have played it naturally with ball back in his stance thus no foot on pathway,it's stretching the rules to the absolute maximum

Looks close to me that he has no shot at all there, was in penalty drop territory without the ruling.

It does look like a very poor ruling. There's no way that DJ would have tried to hit the ball like that. He would have clattered into the tree. In fact I would almost say that the ball was unplayable.

Rory took a very similar stance and he was rightly told to wise up. But then why wasn't DJ.....same referee and one hole apart.

Rory not taking advantage of his birdie chances to put some pressure on

He bottled it by getting the dame score?

Yeah i thought initially DJ at least had a shot but looking at the still it’s fairly clear to me now he hadn’t.

Bit of a snoozefest, can't see DJ looking 6. Maybe there'll be an interesting battle for 2nd.

DJ is some man for the putts, has gotten some amount of lengthy ones

Safe to say DJ has taken Rory to school the last couple of days.

Think it's safe to say he's taken them all to school even the referee. Fantastic player.

These greens are hard, but everything within 12-15ft is falling for DJ. Sensational stuff, makes it look so easy

Rory gave it a proper go. His putting is the best I have seen in a long time. The win is not far away.

But DJ is just class. Every time he appeared to open the door, he slammed it shut again with some fabulous putts of his own.

Refreshing seeing the 2 of them just get on with it as well. Pick a club and hit it.

Absolutely, more birdies than anyone this week just too many dropped shots. 3 shots gained putting is not something you regularly see with Rory.

Yet McIlroy is 6 strokes ahead of third.

Rory is 6 under for the back 9 and which is one ahead of DJ. Other than the "free-drop" incident that possibly annoyed McIlroy, they have basically matched each other hole for hole.

Nobody was going to beat DJ in the form he is in today but Rory has done ok.

-6 for the back nine is 'OK'? Wonder what really good would be!

Rory bottled it on the back 9, imagine not making birdies on 10 & 13 🀔

I included the mini meltdown on 4 and 6. But other than that he has been brilliant as has been DJ.

31 shots for the back 9 from Rory is superb. He just came up against another golfer who played as well or better and started 4 ahead.......quick edit as he mised the last putt.

Dustin by 5 shots. Increased his overnight lead.
    Nobody closed the gap.
