Hi there, I know you cant rough shoot over another clubs land if you are in a gun club, but does this also go for vermin?

I have a couple of farmers, friends of mine, looking for foxes\rabbits shooting from their lands.
Lands cover a couple of gun clubs, they don't seem to be active vermin shooters so there would would be loads of shooting for me.

So does the same rule apply or would i be good to go.

    Many Thanks

If your friends own the land and hold the sporting rights and haven't given or leased them to the other club then he can give whomever he wishes permission to shoot on his land. The would only have permission to be there the same as you some of the members may believe different and try and make trouble but unless they have the sporting rights they can't do anything. If however they do hold the sporting rights then it is their decision to make. AFAIK:)

    Thanks for reply juice.

Well i am not sure about the Sporting rights, nor would these farmers i'm sure
( it would be a case of you can shoot or you cant shoot over their land if you were to ask them). But I know there land would be on the maps of the local gun clubs.

If a farmer gives a gun club permission to shoot their land to they just have "permission" or do they automatically have the "Sporting rights"

    They have permission.

There is a big difference between sporting rights, and permission to shoot on the land.

Sporting rights is usually done via a contract/deal between the land owner/sporting right holder, and the person or club seeking them. If granted the person getting the sporting rights has sole "ownership" of who shoots on the land, and not even the land owner can stop who they allow as it would be in breach of contract.

Permission is a verbal or non contract agreement whereby the person owning/leasing the land give permission for people to use the land for shooting without any contract or signed agreement. They can revoke or grant it as they please.

However if a person is leasing land and they give you permission, but have not "contracted" the sporting rights in their lease agreement the sporting rights remain with the land owner, and as such they can revoke any permission granted by the person leasing the land.

i'm nearly 100% sure this is accurate, but as my knowledge of land/shooting cross over issues is sketchy i stand to be corrected.

Shoot away lad, a gun clubs can't stop you shooting vermin on the land. Only the landowner can do that!
If you have permission from the landowner, they can't even stop you shooting game, but most decent lads wouldn't, just out of respect for the club who put in the hard work rearing game e.t.c!;)

    Thanks lads.

Eddie, I dont know where i got it from but i thought it was a serious thing for one G.C. to encroach on another clubs land. Maybe the lads in my club are a bit mad:confused:

It's always a bit of a sore point alright but if you have permission drive on. Not a thing they can say to you.

If the person involved in the shooting is a member of a club ie NARGC club and is shooting on another club I think that a complaint can be made through the clubs. And if needs be sanctions imposed !! Now I stand to be corrected on that. But you are also right the farmer has final say. But club rules are different and agreements are made between clubs too !

If the farmer gives you the go ahead the gun clubs don't have a say. I shoot vermin on other clubs lands and it was the landowners who contacted me. Always amuses me when clubs kick up a fuss but wont get active in vermin control. The NARCG can do sfa either except ask the clubs to come to an agreement.

IMO id shoot away, the way i see it is its a win/win situation, your helping the land owner, your increasing your own bag and your actually doing the other club a favour by doing a job that obviously very few of their members are bothered about but would gladly give out about.. i know all about it within our club, we have a few that do all the vermin control we can, while others sit back and talk %h!te

some of my favourite spots to shoot have been in areas I have land owner permission but not GC land of my own..

I will gladly shoot game on it.. game from my lands goes to theirs too.. THERE IS NO wall or line.. Hard work rearing game yet shooting vermin on the land too :pac::pac:

as long as you dont do the dog on it..

there is a gun club up the road from me which I have applied to join and had no such luck as of yet but i have written permission from their Chairman to shoot all their lands for the purpose of vermin solely.

SHOWS the hard work they do :pac::pac:
