New update released for the app last night and - at least on my iPad 2 - it makes a MASSIVE difference.

The 'cover flow' effect on the initial page now is silky smooth where previously it would get really jerky after the first flick or two; and the guide loads far, far faster. The only visual difference I noticed is the guide's background is now opaque rather than translucent. I don't know if that was done for performance or readability issues, but it's well worth the download if you have the app.

yep seems to navigate better alright. Will it record from outside the home (it's failed a lot lately)? That'll be the big test for me.

Keep getting the "Sorry, the video cannot be played at this time" on the webapp. Was getting it before and just didn't bother with it again, but this is a clean install of firefox so i thought the problem would be fixed. But nope. I'm using UPC's DNS servers too. Any ideas?

Apart from making sure that you're logged in using your My UPC username & password the only thing I can suggest is that if you are using any add-ons, plugins or extensions that circumvent access restrictions & reconfigure your browser's proxy settings e.g.MediaHint you'll have to disable them to watch live tv on horizon.tv

I hope someone can help - I upgraded to Windows 8.1, but now when I try to run Horizon TV online I get the message "Widevine Video Optimizer is not installed" I click on the box "Get Video Optimizer" and it brings me to a Video Optimizer installation site. However, when I click "install now" I am brought to a Google Chrome download site.
I did manage to fins a widevine site, and installed the video optimizer for Chrome - this works fine, and I can watch Horizon TV if I se Chrome.
I also installed the plug-in for IE - well, I seemed to - it appears in my list of programs in Control Panel --> Programs and Features as "Widevine Media Optimizer IE 6.0.0", and shows as version 6.0.0.12442. However, when I try to run Horizon TV I still get the same message.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks,

    Paddy

Oldish thread but relevant. I only have tv with UPC and not broadband. Does that mean that I can't get the app to watch tv on my smartphone? Looking at their site it seems that all the apps have 'and broadband' underneath it.

UPCs stream TV service only works when you are on UPC broadband. If you have broadband from another provider or are outside your home it will not work. It should work if you are visiting a friend who has UPC for internet.

If you have UPC internet but no TV account it will not work either.

Note the number of channels is far less than on normal TV, and it is a different system to Horizon TV box.
