'what a knowledgeable crowd we have in here tonight' gives me the willies by taylor but he is my favourite commentator and former player...his celebration after his 85 win still makes me laugh.

    The big Hooter on him

Didn't take long for Virgo to say it.
I wonder are the odds on how many times he says it ?

How many other players could have made that clearance? Great stuff from Ronnie

What an epic frame that was. Unreal clearance at then end there by Ronnie.

What about Dennis Taylor and his constant reference to the 'cannon' during his commentary and all of them are forever on about the unique 'pressure ' of the crucible. Does anyone else think I o'Sullivan is obnoxious great talent but as a person up there with Alex Higgins in the personality stakes.
Ya I can't stand him. Why doesn't he tell us how tough his life has been again. Poor Ronnie.
    Great clearance by him there

Would ve great to see Barry pull one back after that clearance from Ronnie, great opportunity!

Hope Hawkins win seems like such a nice guy. Ronnie is playing great. Anyone see the two Kerry jerseys in the crowd.

    Stephen Fry:
    Quite Interesting

Not sure if that was a failed attempt at trying to tell people what show he's on, or just an accurate description of the man himself

A Donegal one yesterday, the two kerry ones today, and quite possibly a galway one.

What is it with the Irish/GAA fans wanting to wear their county colours everywhere.

    :P

I thought that at first until I heard his analysis of the game and his description of the venue.

    Unreal kick there. Dreadful luck.

I thought he got the cuing angle wrong.
Really unfortunate kick, if it was, but I thought he just took his eye off the shot.

There's no way he misjudged it that badly. Had to be a kick.

I thought the same. The white did jump a little but to me, trying to thread the ball through the 2 reds made the pocket smaller and made it a difficult shot that he just got very wrong

Edit: only an opinion, I'm obviously no expert! :D

It's cringey they way Taylor "talks" to the crowd.

Good recovery by Hawkins there, deserved that frame.

    Annoying:
    • showing celebrities and the players' families afer every shot
    • knobheads shouting as if they were at a football match
    • that twat who introduces players at the start of a session
    • audience members wearing football jerseys
    • where's the cue ball going?

The BBC commentators are generally great, but Rob Walker is an idiot. He apologised to the viewership the other night for Hawkins using "industrial language" in an interview - he said "Jesus Christ". The interview was after the Walden match so was after 9pm. Idiot.

Jaysus, had a bath for the first time in years, that was relaxing to say the least.

Couldn't be more contented here with me glass of wine settling in for the final session :D

Come on Barry, get a couple straight away.

PS. Love the BBC coverage. The only annoying thing for me is the way they focus on celebrities etc. There are surely loads and loads of interesting snooker people there that I'd enjoy hearing from or hearing stories about.

duuno about that intro from hazel irvine

    talking up ronnie like that

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭mrsoundie

What the hell was that intro, is there a dole cue (my bad) for retired snooker players to be commentators?

No wonder the rocket wants to retire.

Come on Barry!!! He really needs to take the first 3 or 4 to be in with a chance I think. Really hope he gets them.

    Here we go :)

    Fantastic safety!

    Edit, thought he snookered Ronnie

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,269 ✭✭✭_feedback_

Good man Barry! 127 to get started.

When he knocked in the black he just looked really calm and relaxed. Keep it up!
