Another Saab, short NCT but with lovely alloys;)

Purely out of curiousity; what are those low pressure turbos like and how do they work? Are they simply a cheaper way for saab to build as the engine will be under less pressure than the HPT and they market it as having better fuel economy?

Had the Clio with the same engine. Great little unit, revvy little thing. Goes quite well.

It's what it name says; a turbo that works at a low pressure, around 0.4-.05 bar. They're generally quite small and negligible turbo lag and good low end grunt. Compared to a big turbo with no low end power, loads of lag and loads of power at the top end.

These are excellent little cars, super comfortable and its got decent spec for a 95 car. Loads of tax and test too.

I've wanted one of these for ages but sadly I'm stuck in Dublin with no car.

It is close to my parents house if you want me to have a look at it for you saturday.
There is a train station in charleville - only 2 hours from dublin.

It's in Charleville on the main Dublin-Cork train line. Rare car, not to everybody's taste so it might not be snapped up straight away. I'd ring the garage, take a day off work and head down there tomorrow or the next day.

It's low mileage, should have some sort of warranty as it's off a dealer, and has about €350 worth of tax on it. You won't get a better R19 than that for a long long time. BTW those seats look very comfy, it's a nice place to spend a year or two as a daily driver.

In fact seeing as it's off a dealer, I'd be a cheeky pup if I brought that and ask if they've any old spares for it in the warehouse that they don't need. You never know :-)

I'll see as I'm supposed to be picking up my new car soon too. Although I never realised its on the main route.

@RedKev, cheers for that. I know its doing the rounds quickly among Renault fanatics but a day off work isn't possible. I'll see if its still there at the weekend.

These are very comfortable but suffer from patchy build quality and the dreaded tin worm, especially on the sills.

that looks like a good example mind.

Not got the most test or spec, but this Punto 5000000 special edition is a bit of strange.
Basically a UK spec Active model with a numbered plaque inside, a CD player and boot badge.
They also got 1 year free insurance at the time.

    More old stuff,

    1990 Mazda 626
    2.0 Petrol, auto
    113,000 Miles
    NCT 2/15
    €800
If you like cool old stuff, this is the way to go. Looks a bit scruffy.

Paid 1100 quid today for an '02 80k mile V70 2.0T Auto with tax till September and July NCT. Leather, climate, electric glass sunroof, heated seats and a Dolby Pro Logic stereo system are extras that stand out within its reasonable spec.

A good scrub up and it should be a very decent car.

    113k? That's barely ran in....

So that's only about €800 without the tax. Nice bangernomics, well wear

Plenty of poke in the 5 cylinder turbo engine. And just 2l tax! Do the belt on time and the engine / autobox shouldn't give any trouble

Two nice estates both with fresh NCT's

    Volvo v70 €1,250
    27272174.jpeg

    Audi A6 1.9 diesel €1,800
    27245878.jpeg

Quite like the Audi although this is the one that really caught my eye.

Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 with LPG conversion €1,950, fresh NCT on this one too, it is sooo tempting, wish I could justify getting it, have loved the look of these since they came out and they are getting rarer and rarer if I ever want to have one

Someone appears to have stolen the wheels off that Audi. And is that rust I see beside both rear arches?

I think back in the day Paddy spec Audis (and many other "upmarket" makes) still came with steelies :)

Not like those though. I thought this style was the basic Audi alloy for the A4 and A6 round then?

If you image google "'00 audi a6 steelies" you get a lot of wheels that look like them though :)

BMW, leather and EW only in front. heck even my 99 Octavia had both front and end EW!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,306 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

This is going to disappear fast, it's priced at 1075 quid; TD Corolla, 97,000 miles and a new NCT. I'd buy it only I'd have to bend over backwards for insurance.

Edit: nigs, it's not a TD.

I would be more worried about the casette radio than the lack of electric windows in the back. Tapes in 2004, FFS...
Other than that nice looking car.
