I dig where you're coming from, Toyotafanboi. They are good value for money for what they are. Maybe I'm getting old, but the skirts and spoilers look on that car are approaching Honda Civic levels. Screams: "I'm a scumbag" to me...
standard late90's Honda Civics(the way Honda intended them to be) are very nice cars Imo. They are superbly built with superb reliability and a good range of decent(for what they are) engines.

It's not honda's fault that many ended up looking like they did.

Those plastic bits on that rover/mg on the otherhand was all rovers doing.

I see the attraction some people have to the ZR.

Relatively nice/sporty looking car with good performance that can be picked up cheaply.

But even the facelift version with the upgraded headgasket give hg problems. If I were in the market for something small a ZR wouldn't be top of my list.

it is quite the spoiler alright. and nobody has mentioned the rust yet :P also had to replace the tailgate loom in mine which was a pig of a job :(
Did yours rust around the windscreen? Rust around the sunroof was also another problem area on them and around the ariel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

well the spirit of MG was dressing up the standard Rover editions a little wasn't it. suppose its all personal preference really isn't it.

both the 25/ ZR and the ej/ ek civic were rusty ****heaps anyway, e10 4e corolla all the way!

    *i joke

I don't blame Honda. But when I see any of those cars in this country, I know I have a 95% chance there's a scrote inside. Very unfair to the 5% I know, but that's the way it seems to be (ask any insurer, and they will tell you that drivers of those cars rack up far more / higher insurance claims than any other car in that segment)

yes, up the A-pillars, the sunroof frame completely rotted away and took a lot of repair work. around the rear spoiler had a fair bit of rust. under the sill scuff plates had a lot of rust and there was a lot of well set in surface rust across the chassis.

and mine was a "regularly washed and waxed" example. i dread to see an unmaintained one.

Does my head in seeing those scrotes driving them. They have most of them wrecked at this stage. They think they are great at all together with their hoodies up and the seat so far back it's a wonder they can see out at all.

Another pet hate of mine is seeing a nice standard unmolested model on donedeal, then only for it to turn up on donedeal six months later after falling into the wrong hands with halfords finest stuck to it.

:eek:that's quiet an amount of rust you had there. I haven't seen one with that much rust yet.

A bit over the 2k limit but the seller is interested in a swap so a deal could be done to bring it down.

Sell the disgusting wheels and it should come back well inside the bangernomics budget.

200,000 miles on the Forester and asking price of €2,700

    Not bangernomics...

Unless you have access to free petrol. That yoke will barely do 10MPG :D

Plenty of fish in the sea...

All usual refinements cruse control climate control multi function steering wheel electric windows central locking.

Bit harsh, Colm? Someone just likes spending their Saturday job money in Halfords :)

Looks like a decent buy to me. €650 asking price, full years NCT. ELX model too.

If I needed a car that wasn't gonna cost me a cent to run for a whole year except tax / insurance / fuel / and €35 for oil + filter and my budget was €700, I'd buy that Accord. Great find! Probably near zero depreciation over the year too.
