Old diesel

Have never heard of an X type 2.5 that wasn't awd/4 x 4 - it was the 2.1s and the diesels that were front wheel drive as far as I know.

But anythings possible - I thought the 2.5 t5 petrols in the Mk 2 Volvo S40 were all awd - but ive just discovered recently that awd was optional on rhd - and even then only on Estate models

X Types were configured as FWD on the 2.1 petrol and the diesel models, then the 2.5 and 3.0 petrols were AWD

****ing levins gone so cheap. after spunking way too much at the starlet to change now though. put 6 months tax on it today too amongst other things :P

that first one with the "11" reg was damaged and broken before, must have made it back to the road somehow. remember seeing it on donedeal last year on the back of a tow truck i'm pretty sure.

lets face it Sean, i'm waiting for yours to come up for sale anyway!

Awful yokes imo. wouldn't touch one, especially the facelift.

They look decent and they're quick for a 1.4. Still wouldn't buy one though, I have a weird deep seeded hatred of Rovers, no idea why!

i feel they have a lot of merits.

terrific spec for the money with a/c, sunroof, half leather, 6 disc changer etc, handsome too imo.

they are very sporty to drive too, very very tight chassis from the factory. most powerful production n/a 1.4 also i believe.

facelifts had the upgraded head gasket factory fitted and aside from that they aren't bad engine really. my eye would rarely wander from a toyota but i really enjoyed my time with my Zed.

They aren't bad to drive Il give them that and as you say they are nippy enough for a 1.4

The headgaskets still go in them though and the facelifts also suffer from dodgy electrics, namely it's bcu which was made on the cheap due to cost cutting at mg rover.

I dig where you're coming from, Toyotafanboi. They are good value for money for what they are. Maybe I'm getting old, but the skirts and spoilers look on that car are approaching Honda Civic levels. Screams: "I'm a scumbag" to me...

it is quite the spoiler alright. and nobody has mentioned the rust yet :P also had to replace the tailgate loom in mine which was a pig of a job
