I shudder to think of who within the existing public service will be applying for the job. I know that redeployment must take place because of the recruitment embargo, but in my experience of working in a large organisation, the people or 'excesses' who are deployed are the people who are poor performers where they already are, good people wont' be moved. Or am I just being cynical?

Fairly bang on I'd say. A woman I work with is being actively encouraged by our manager to gain experience in other departments. It's all part of his end game to get rid of her on to some other manager.

All we're short is Jack O'Connor to join in and the entire country will go into siesta mode.

So a road worker not pulling his weight behind a shovel could in theory become a fire fighter. God help us

Unions should have nothing to do with the fiber gade.

    Beards are a fire hazard.

He must have forgotten how to shout "EXPUNGE! EXPUNGE!"...or maybe that's solely reserved for the (non-union) liddel peeple?
