Looks very tidy, only 2 months NCT left and a whisp of tax, but for €350 (ono)

admittedly (if) it has not got not tax or test it will probably be another €1k before it's on the road. still, nowhere else in the world would you get that much car for that little money :P

Centre console in the GS300 looks identical to the centre console in my Legend.

It'd be handy if that was the case because I could do with the nav system from a GS300, mine can't be used outside of Japan.

Could be good bangernomics that. Not much to go wrong in them.

I was going to post it there but the short test made me post it here tbh.

That is lovely. If it was cheaper tax (2.5) I would be all over it:(

Perfect candidate for an LPG conversion :)

How much is a manifold for one of these? and is it doable as a DIY?

Feel like there's great value to be had here. You could break it and scrap the rest for a profit if all went wrong

Maybe I'm wrong but aren't there 2 manifolds? The inlet manifold and the exhaust manifold?

Presume there is a crack in one of them yes. Also presuming that they would both be in and around the same price to repair.

Don't hold me to it but I think they have a plastic intake manifold which I think are prone to cracking as they age ( go brittle)

Its the exhaust manifold that goes, same problem as my car. They distort over time and crack eventually. A pig to change, especially if the studs snap flush with the head its either head off or engine out

So in essence you'd want to be fairly handy with the spanner to get that BMW up and running properly without causing a financial mess to yourself.
    Still good finds :)

A daily task for yourself ;)

Pretty much! A lot of those studs do break when removing though....

You'd be better off replacing the manifold with a full tubular manifold but how much would that cost?

At least the bonnet opens the other way, the E34 wasn't the easiest to get the engine out...!

They are a super-reliable car and parts can be gotten very cheaply on-line.

(I have my 98 'GS300 for 7 years now AND with LPG!!)

That is not a candidate for a fixerupper thread, it belongs to the bangernomics thread.

i don't doubt its a great car! i'd love to own one in some other country, or have the balls to not pay motor tax.

Its that exact typically Irish attitude that this is so cheap.

    Buy it for €1k.
    LPG it for €1k.

Now you have a car that has the financial fuel costs of a 40mpg petrol car with zero deperciation (it would probably appreciate in value with an lpg kit!) Use this depreciation value saved from driving some other yoke for the extra €800 towards the tax over a 2.0. And enjoy ultra reliable barge motoring

    Very cheap car

    I completely understand your point.
I also am the first one who hates people who buy small weedy engined cars to save pittence per year on tax.

i do think the tax on the lexus is excessive though, my attitude towards the 3.0 tax isn't typically irish, its typically sensible. the guts of 2k for a years tax i just couldn't afford currently. in my current situation that's 20% of my yearly earnings.

    2k tax on 3.0L + engine just isn't justifiable.
LPG or diesel softens the blow but no where near enough to make these viable.

Its a pity but there is no light at the end of the tunnel for large engine cars here.
