Martin resigned from the Seanad a while back. He didn't take his full Seanad salary either.

IMO I think his last report had a lot to do with it.

I think the whitewash could have been used in the building that day..........:(

Bacik can't get elected with the general public. It's galling that she has a Senate seat despite the fact that she has no popular support.
She has more to offer than some of the muppets in the Dáil and Seanad.

Martin McAleese was asked specifically to be a senator to do the Magdeline Laundry review. That's all he sat for. I've a lot of time for the McAleeses. I would love him as our next President

    Bacik, Zaponi, Norris.
3 reasons to keep the Seanad.... But 3 reasons is nowhere near enough

What issues annoy you about Bacik?

I would not say annoy, I just don't agree with most of her views.

We should have more poll toppers like Healy Rae and Lowry...

Some arnt aware of the parameters of the report. It wasn't investigating criminality.

The victims groups welcomed the report

IMO he done what he was told. That is not good qualifications for the the office of President. IMO he was put in a position that he detested, that is why he walked away.

Not at all. He always made it clear he was only serving until his report was complete.

If it was such a white wash why was it welcomed by survivors' groups?

That's democracy. We might not like the results but we should respect the will of the electorate.
