I am guessing you probably will need to bring it back to the shop but you could try a magnet if it is an alarm one .I have no idea if it will work or not but it is worth trying. If it is a ink one do not touch it unless you want a multicolour top.

Best keep it until tomorrow, and bring it back.

Some of them can be burnt off though depending on the type.

any chance you could go back to shop or a local branch of shop if possible with receipt in hand?

maybe even any shop with one of those things that opens the tag (magnetic?)

A pliers and some well placed plastic covering might be the best bet.
or a saw blade if its really niggly.

maybe a bread knife ??? :pac:

or just cut the top and re-sew it.

or just wear it as is today and return it tomorrow....cover the tag with something...i dunno ...a cat ... or a lily. glue a cut out justin bieber face over it.

or just wear it under a coat.

    Nope unfortuatly

But I get some, then what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭gavindublin

One side has an ink logo, other has a small steel pin marl. Put the (strong) magnet on the ink side. It'll release the tag.

    What county you in??

If you've the receipt, go back and get it removed, if it's convenient. If you've the receipt, it should be no problem.

Let him wear a different jumper and return it when the shop is open.

Simple mistake to make. Calling the check out girl names is childish.

Just reverse over it so. Without the kid inside it

Only the circular tags are magnetic and have dye in them. The white bar ones need a special slot thing built into the checkout to remove, you haven't a hope of getting that off. Some tills have alarms built into them so mistakes can be caught before handing the bag over, but if not then people will miss one every now and again. Sometimes two tags are put on the same top by accident so when one is found nobody looks for another, sometimes the tag blends into the item. It's not dopey, its called being human.

Why do they bother putting tags on if you can just walk out with them attached?

This happend me some years ago, tho it was with boxer shorts I baught in the sports shop I managed with great effort to get it offf by cutting the metall bar with a snips might be a better idea to bring it back to the shop imo

It was bought for him to wear for Easter. It would after the initial wearing it for this specific day have made into to his rotation of clothes. Alas with this tag on it that will never happen now. Its ruined his mothers day, and you can be sure she will male sure mine is ruined too :D

Oh. I got a chocolate egg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,324 ✭✭✭BillyMitchel

If you try and remove it you'll either rip the jumper or there's ink on it that will destroy the jumper if you open it.

Did the alarm not go off when you walked out of the shop?

How did you leave the shop with the tag still on?

I think there is something deeper than what is in the OP

    I can help op :)

I used to work in retail. Generally there are 2 types of clothing tags, ink or non-ink tags (to simplify) But bad news for you is that most are the ink kind when clothing is used. If you try to break it, the dye capsules inside will snap and ruin the jumper. The tag is disc shaped, right?

As silly as this may sound the easiest way to get it off is to freeze the jumper. Thus freezing the ink. Then break. One lad I worked with years ago bought something in the shop but forgot to take the tag off. Rather than bring it back (and likely be accused of stealing it) he froze it then smashed the tag.

Magnets wont work. It needs an electro magnet set to an exact strength. Too strong and it locks again.

Good pair of tin snips will take it off easy.

I took about 6 or 7 off last year on the wife and daughters clothes. They're shocking lazy in some of the shops.

It's a stong magnet. The side marked ink has a perforated edge. The pin side has the pin with teeth. They interlock. The de tagger pulls the ink receiver to the side and releases the pin.
